Tile needed 1 Year, 4 Months ago  
Hi, was playing with the map app and noticed an issue, say I'm building a 3x3 room with a door in one wall, I end up with a need for a half tile (similar) to the diagonal and curved half tiles. It would be cool to see this piece get added.

Welcome to the DF forum pitweval,

Unfortunately, such a piece would not respect the 2*2 modular system. If you start making a 1*2 wall, you than need to make a 1*2 floor and a 1*2 corner. Then, logically, you obviously need to make a 1*1 wall, floor and corner too. The Game Tile System is designed to provided the strict minimum number of pieces to save on the cost of very expensive molds ($10 000 each) and produce huge economies of scale by casting huge numbers of them. Specialty pieces such as the one you describe would have a smaller appeal to the masses. Here, I was describing a concept of Game Tiles to make Passages. Stefan told us there, and I tend to agree with that, that he feels that he should stick to a 2*2 modular system for the Game Tiles to allow new DF customers to play with them for a while before possibly giving them new specialized pieces. You can still buy an Advanced Builder Set for now but I'm afraid it will take some time before you get such a piece in Dwarvenite, if ever...

Doors sit on top of floor tiles. Put the door on top of a regular 2"x2" floor.

I'm assuming you mean 3 tiles by 3 tiles, since a 3"x3" room would require a lot more custom pieces than a half-floor.

Got it, yeah I meant a 3 tile by 3 tile room. I wasn't aware the doors sat on top the floors, that makes more sense.
