I would like to go on record that (I think) PDFs as stretch goals of KS for physical products are lame.

I think the trick would be to ensure these are additional (unplanned) items. It could even be 300K (normal stretch goal), 305K (extra pdf). If backers feel that they are instead, then they would indeed be lame.

A lot of people talk about icing on the cake. A pdf would just be a few extra sprinkles. In themselves they don't add much. But I know enough people here who ask Stefan for ages to get them up.

Most of the products on the website aren't in stock, so they can't be ordered... If they were, I'd be ordering a bunch of them. (That's something that didn't make much sense to me - the talk about Dwarven Forge being in danger of closing down if this KS failed, and yet not having the products available to those wanting to buy them...)

we didn't have the $50,000 upfront to restock....now it seems we will, and we will thus be able to keep our stock levels up again:)

Stefan:

I've not been active in the forums previously but have bought a lot of this stuff over the years. The only reason I haven't bought more is because it is frequently out of stock when I am ready to order. Not attempting to be rude or blunt, but if DF didn't have $ for restocking core product based off the sales of existing core product; what will the KS fundamentally change for the company? If it doesn't affect your margin on existing product are you just delaying the inevitable? What will cause the resin product lines to become sustainable on their own?

I think you have a great product and hope this all works out for you.

Count me as a supporter for the KS who is in favor of a wide range of reward pieces being offered (understand the economic argument against it, but I'd sure like to order 5 more sets of a different type!).

Now that's good news - and I'm quite serious about wanting to buy some of the other sets on the website! I hope you're able to stock up on them soon(ish). :)

kevinrau, cletusk82,

Yes, many of the products are out of stock right now. They will mostly be back in stock in a few months. Just register to be notified by email on the product page you want and you will receive a nice automatic email when they are back in stock. The most cost-effective method to collect DF stuff anyway is to make bulk orders to save on shipping fees. In your case nowadays, your money should go to the incredible KS offer that gives you the most for your bucks. There won't be freebie stretch goals next Fall when these product become mainstream on the normal DF site. Also, shipping won't be free anymore! As for the actual DF products presently in stock, these are a must and they are all already in stock: Ancient Treasure Set, Medieval Furniture Set, Dungeon Accessories Set. Finally, may I remind you that this thread is about speculating upon the KS stretch goals?

Stefan,
I really hate to see you miss an opportunity to get some sales from new Kickstarter customers wanting to buy sets here on DF. Is it possible to offer these sets for sale but with the caveat of a later shipping date? You've stated you have the cash now and it's just a matter of getting them made. I'm just trying to be helpful and grow the terrain line I love SO much!

We have gained and/or will gain at least 1000 new customers through kickstarter (at least) and they are already showing their willingness to compliment their Game Tile Sets with our MasterMaze line...so that will go a long way towards sustainability...we always sell out our orders but depends how long... sometimes we just need a little extra to make that huge upfront payment for the container...new customers will help this happen, 2 lines instead of 1 will increase our revenue...i don't really want to get into a discussion of all the details etc and not sure i should...but i am confident we are in a better position now....

We will be able to restock in a wide range of MasterMaze products because of the success of this Kickstarter!

I will most certainly be waiting the length of the Kickstarter campaign to see if any of the already release DF accessories are included as add-ons, but if they're not, I'll definitely be picking up additional product.

As I mentioned in the KS comments section, I know the initial release of the sets is slated for October 2013 but if stretch goals / add-ons need to be scheduled for later on I'm totally cool with that. I'll happily invest more in the Kickstarter to get the initial blocks and then get a second set further down the line.

Who knows, by February of 2014 I might still be painting Reaper Bone miniatures!
