TOPIC: Tiles?

Re:Tiles? 1 Year, 5 Months ago
LeperColony, I think you are forgetting a few subtleties.

One thing, the price of the standard Room Set is right now artificially maintained low as an entry level to DF products. I would not be surprised to see its price increase when Game Tiles are mainstream DF produts.

Every DF product users know that to fill a table, you need more than 1 set.

DF's kickstarter introduces for the first time wholesale pricing, which is great for us, the customers!

1 set unpainted: $65 per set
2 sets unpainted: $60 per set
3 sets unpainted: $58.33 per set
5 sets unpainted: $52 per set
10 sets unpainted: $50 per set

1 set painted: $95 per set
2 sets painted: $85 per set
3 sets painted: $78.33 per set
5 sets painted: $76 per set
10 sets painted: $73 per set

This is all very good news for new and old DF users!

As I indicated in my original post, the price of the current Room Set may in fact be unsustainable. If the Room Set were released today and the cost were higher, that would obviously have an impact on the analysis. But until those numbers are known, it's impossible to do anything except conjecture.

Regarding whole-sale pricing, we can't yet assume that the Kickstarter rewards are going to represent the sale costs once ordinary production begins. Kickstarter campaigns typically offer rewards that are either unique, substantially discounted, or both. Now, if Stefan were to indicate that the Kickstarter pricing scheme is also the intended production pricing system, that would change things.

The value you will get through the Kickstarter project will be much greater than you will get on our retail webstore in the Fall. We are about to unlock some great FREE Stretch Goals that will NOT be a part of any sets offered online. We need everyone to order NOW, so we can get the best prices for everyone. Any re-orders will likely cost us much more because we will most likely have to order less -- and thus pay a higher cost.

So...I would order now during this project for the best value.

Could you post some pics of the hand-painted Dwarvinite pieces intermixed with the existing MM pieces? I know they aren't going to be exact, but it would help me decide painted vs. gray, etc.

Thanks!

Very worried 1 Year, 5 Months ago
Hi it's old uncle belly in Hong Kong here
I've about 150 sets or so so you can call me a veteran collector
Its the kick starter program that me is worrying
I buy dwarven forge stuff because its the best but suddenly due to commercial reasons Stephan and the crew are starting to make stuff more for the bigger market and not us niche collectors something my business sense understands clearly but one I cannot put my name to
Ok it's cheaper but what we are looking at here is stuff all the loyal fans have already
I noticed in the vido just released Stephan looked pained when he talks about the loyal following
I will not join in this because I want dwarven forge to continue to make the mind boggling wonderful and beautiful terrain they always make.
I'm not sure what Stephan intends to do with his old firm fans but I am very very worried ths could be the end of our line
Call me pessimistic but at the beginning of the video Stephan looked upset for the old school fans
STEPHAN please prove me otherwise but it looks like dumbed down dwarven forge to me
I hope every old school fan will try to keep dwarven forge from been " strictly commercial" as frank zapa put it
I will release some recent fond pictures of a set up on my rooftop on the pic gallery soon as to show my love for my crazy collection
Fight for quality! Keep dwarven forge the best!

Cheers

I am excited because I want DF to stay in business. At the current rate raw material costs are increasing, they will not be able to do so without greatly increasing their prices or having such a low profit margin it stops being worth it to create the pieces.

Maybe DF can keep both lines, the affordable new ones and the more expensive resin ones?

How is it dumbed down? Because it's less fragile? Because it costs less? Because more people can buy it? I understand that might limit your "cool factor" if more people have it, but I don't buy them for status, I buy them because they are fun to play with and look great.

The new pieces look great and, assuming they blend in well with the enormous amount of what I already have, I'll be getting these as well.

Uncle Belly, it has been stated multiple times that the current Dwarven Forge line will continue to be produced. The main goal is this is to make it accessible to people that cannot afford the main line products. We already know there are sets in production (Catacombs 2 and possibly 3) and it was mentioned that the money from the Kickstarter will help fund greater traditional DF products.

No need to worry.

It's not about been elite
It's about having the great quality we all enjoy
Ok so if DF introduce the new stuff and keep the usual more expensive sets coming then we are all laughing right?
What worrys me is the tone of Stephan's video
He looked sad for older fans and if THAT means the end of releasing the more expensive quality sets then we have a problem
On the face value of what I see I feel this is aimed for new collectors not us old ones
It cost me many many thousand dollars and I love all of it
I'm an old collector
Stephan ease my mind I'm worried

I would think the only thing preventing them from expanding the Game Tiles line with additional pieces is mold production, a problem likely to be solved right about now.

Alternatively, I could see DF repackaging the existing line. The principal walls, floors, etc would be Dwarvinite, as might common add-ons like columns, etc., while Wicked Addition-type pieces remain resin.

Maybe I've been away but I did not know that they stated many times the quality stuff would continue
Sorry
Anyway within my ignorance my previous statement still stands

UncleBelly,
You keep asking the same question and it's being answered. Stefan has, on numerous occasions and on these boards, indicated BOTH lines will continue.

Rest assured your future investment in the "original" DF Product lines will continue.
