UK Show attendance in 2012 2 Years, 6 Months ago
Hi Jens, I know you are at Salute this weekend.
Will you be doing any other UK gaming related shows this year? Triples for instance?

Cheers.

I was waiting for Salute to see how it works. Overall it was a great experience to showcase DF and talk to many customers. Quite a few old ones dropped by who stopped buying when DF went US only and have been happy for it to be back.
Many people had never seen it before and liked it a lot. We distributed many flyers and I need to reprint now.

That's all the good

It was 1 1/2 days hard work, preparing, doing the booth and packing everything back up again.

Sales were not as good as hoped. Salute is a rather expensive show and I need to see if it makes sense in the long run. I decided I will be back to Salute next year - with more advertisement ahead and hopefully some customers will buy when they have seen it before.
DF is something expensive and big to carry - bad for a quick buy. So I will also watch if I get more sales / new customers in the near future. I got at least one after the show.

But that lets me rething my strategy.

Plans:
Games Expo - Birmingham end of May: I will attend Games Expo as PFS game master. I can deliver pre-orders and might get a stall to have some limited sets available that I bring with me in my car.
PaizoCon - Birmingham, July: I will attend Games Expo as PFS game master. I can deliver pre-orders and will have some limited sets available that I bring with me in my car.
OddCon - Telford: Likely the same, need to check timings as it is one week ahead of Essen / Germany.
Spiel, Essen, Germany Oktober: I'm working on a stall here. I will announce more once this is organized.

Other plans:
A lot depends on cost and effort. The closer to East Kent it is and the less I pay for a stall, the easier it is for me to come.
I'm just 15 minutes away from Dover - so heading over to northern France / Belgium / Netherlands is a possibility if I get cheap ferry tickets. After all - I went as far as Hamburg.
So if anyone is organizing an event and wants me there - drop me a message. I see what I can do.

Some shots from Salute for your scrap book. :)

I know several Wargaming/gaming related traders and it is tough going with some shows. Table prices never seem to come down that is for sure.
One trader I know, though does say, he is lucky if he breaks even at a show, but it is the advertising and after show sales that keep him going.

DF is a very "visual" products. Seeing it, is what probably convinces 99% of us to buy it. I doudt many people, set out and say "hey I want a 3d Dungeon scenery set"..lol. So I hope the after sales make it worth it.

I'm waiting for some photos to share. My wife forgot the camera (her job) but I hope she did at least some photos with her iPhone (quality ?).
Also Phil - whom you see in the picture holding the RotA set did some photos. There was a demo table as well with some nicer layouts. The Room Set looks quite bad - it was meant for people to build themselves - so quality differed during the day but in the photo this must have been at the low point.

A little tray with edges, and a sign "Please have a play. These "X" number of pieces, are just a selection, to show you some of the range".

That way, people will know, you know how many pieces are there, so they don't "walk" and the public get to handle and try out and it also the tray instantly defines it as an interactive display and so it does not look like a lazy setup.. Just a thought..lol

There is a cheap vynal printer up my way, who does big banners relatively cheaply. With salute, its hard to navigate at times and I know friends who go, each year, say the same thing,, they failed to find certain stands and games they wanted to see.

Some traders stands are very poorly laid out. I go to about 10 shows a year and as a buyer/customer, frankly some stands are so tacky and horrid it puts you off even looking. But some are nicely laid out with the items being very visable and easy to see and locate. That saves times and make it more likley someone will buy.

I was hoping my friend at salute would have taken a shot of the layout table, but he forgot too.. :( lol
