KS Twitter challenge 6 Months, 1 Week ago
Today I was driving to the warehouse - a 2 hour drive while listening to the radio and various games where listeners could win something.
That gave me the idea for the KS Twitter challenge. I know a lot of the current backers love free stuff. And I knew in the warehouse I had a box with interesting Dwarven Forge 'stuff'.
But live is hard and nothing ever is truly free. In the radio you phone in (premium number ?) and entertain other listeners. So what would be worthwhile for me to send something out to someone lucky or deserving?
And the idea of the KS Twitter challenge was born. You might have heard me bemoan that a search for dwarven forge on Twitter doesn't yield very many hits. And even if I occasionally post something with the #dwarvenforge hashtag - how many people actually ever read that?
So I thought I give an incentive out. At the warehouse I 'found' a cavern entrance with bamboo door - yes - this is originally DF and from the Cavernous Lake expansion pack. This door never was and likely never will be sold on it's own. But it surely will make a nice addition to anyone pledging.
So what do you need to do to make it yours?
Do a tweet addressed to @ThodsBazaar with the hashtag #dwarvenforge in it and a photo of some DwarvenForge related picture attached as well as your KS backer name. I will select a lucky recipient from all entries.
How do I decide? I don't know yet. It doesn't has to be a large build up. I'm always for the underdog - so something smart, surprising, etc. will do it. YouTube videos are also allowed.
And if you don't win? Maybe there is a second chance. If people like it - and if I get at least 5 entries by midnight (US West Coast) I will offer as second item a bridge from the River and Wall set.
I have enough pieces to last us every day of the Kickstarter. But it depends on you to convince me it is worthwhile doing.
So who is the first? If you are the only one, then you will automatically get the cavern entrance. If not - I pledge to follow everyone on twitter entering the competition.
I reserve the right to ask for a token contribution of the postage at a later stage if this becomes too successful. But for now it is free and I even post it worldwide wherever you are.
Address can be send to me via the contact page on the European site.

The winner of day 1 is ...

Actually - you all bowled me over and it was tough to make a decision. There was lots of great posts and I had an early favourite - until I got bowled over this morning by another entry.

So in the end I decided on

yes - not one winner but two

The smile of the young boy is just cute. Yes - I'm a father as well and remember fondly how my son played with the dwarven forge sets. I still don't know what the monsters are.

So this is the entry from @Merimde aka EJ Lawrence

And then I got bowled (driven) over this morning by Dave McAwesome with his Nascar track of doom. Visit his blog. Blog link

There where lots of other great entries that are as deserving. I loved customs paints, I loved one set layouts, I loved the single piece with treasure, etc.

Congratulations to the winners and there will be a bridge for day 2.

The winner of day 2:

Christian Kleman

What I liked about the entry:
Simplicity - 8 corner pieces, 5 floor pieces, 8 diagonal corners, 1 treasure pile
The clever use of the figures
The witty text included:

Never underestimate the power of strategy... or the stubbornness of adventurers.

For day 3 we have 2 winners again.

Jason Evens send me 2 great more classical pictures.

Jason Evans ‏@EvansJasonE
.@ThodsBazaar When my wife puts together scenarios, the women always get the treasure. #dwarvenforge on Kickstarter!

Oh - and I was encouraging pictures of people who don't (yet) own DF. This was a very tough one. I loved Ray Williams place holder.

But in the end - cuteness and audacity wins. People who watch youtube know that baby films draw views. So I couldn't say no to the new father presenting proudly his new baby.

Oliver Fraser ‏@Olanjack 21h

#dwarvenforge @ThodsBazaar It's a baby boy.

Oliver Fraser - now I want a picture of the mother as well please !!

Yay! That treasure room is the first Dwarven Forge layout my wife ever put together. She saw me working on one for my game, made fun of me for playing with my toys on the dining room table again, and then got interested enough to build one of her own.
Now to convince her this win is justification to double my Kickstarter pledge...

Also, credit where it's due, the jail cell center section is a piece I got from an eBay user named maulhelm. He does great work.

Thank you!

A few more winning pictures. Not sure I notified everyone and who did win which day.

The colloseum was a different winning picture - but I couldn't find it quickly. The books was a great elevation piece. I just can't resist a great smile. The scratch work of the beach looked fantastic and I really loved the portal.

Somehow I'm not sure if I have too many winners now - well - did I say it can be only one each day.

Edit: I was asked to add names
The colloseum and the Caribian blue water was William Jacobs ‏@Moss_Boss_Bill

Forgot this picture of the coloseum prior to game night, so no gamers yet.
Coloseum Before The Battle .@ThodsBazaar #dwarvenforge My first tweet & picture.(4th try to get picture size right)
Long Ago Idea of Sandy Cavern Beaches w/Caribean Blue Water. Sculpted with Bow Tie Holes.
William has send in several great pictures so far - but I can't have him win every day (and the Colosseum counts only once).

Thes Hunter ‏@thes_hunter did the books

@ThodsBazaar #dwarvenforge You shall not pass!!Epic battle vs dragon painted by Em in green-backer Munji Studios

ANd the fantastic portal is Josh Chunick ‏@jchunick

.@ThodsBazaar What is that we see through the veil of the portal? Is it a portal to a fantastical land? #dwarvenforge

Just wondering if anyone has received their prize yet or if they have been sent out? I have received mine and just want to make sure it wasn't lost in the post.

Yup. Wondering the same thing. I won as well and haven't received anything and have now heard that a couple people have received their prizes from Thod. I sent in my contact info through the Europe contact page which is what I recall was supposed to be done.
