Now that we have seen a little tease of hte cavernous water set, I'm wondering: are the SF gamers excited?

I know it's not a Sci-Fi set, but certainly the cavernous setting DOES work at least a little for SF campaigns. It's a great environment for an alien world, it's not exactly out of place in a Star Trek episode, and it also works for more "contemporary" Sci-fi settings as opposed to those set in some distant future (the James Bond/Superhero setting where the archvillain has a cavernous lair, typically taking place in the contemporary world with a small SF twist).

So -- is this appealing? Are SF gamers writing this set off, or considering it, or downright PSYCHED for it?

Cavern MM has great utility with SF gaming!

Cavern MM provides a believable setting where you can have combat in natural underground settings or in mixing with SF MM to depict partially SF-improved ones.

In the "Dwarven Forge News" section, there are two pics that show part of the new stuff.... unpainted, no resin yet, and they don't show the whole piece, but you still get a sense of it...

Well I want to get more cavern stuff anyway. I have always loved the stark contrast with ultra " Dobolic " future settings with a rugged primitve cavern to hide in or discover the " Press here to blow up the complex " button...

Oh yes that is a good one. I used to play in a James Bond game. I am pretty sure that was the name of the game system... Where you had hero points to spend and you could aktually get for witty comments and actions. Great fun game.

MLV, I did play that one also but was a player only and only knew what I needed to play and when experience came around was given the options. Lot of good stories. Looking back on it I wish we went for a more " Get Smart " campy slap stick instead of trying to be all serious about it. LOL...

Sorry to ressurect an older thread, but I wanted to chime in that the cavernous waters set was what pushed me over to buying DF items.

I don't play fantasy, but it's so useful for Sci-Fi: Star Wars, Trek, Starship Troopers bug holes, the list goes on!

On a slightly different note. Rember the futurama episodes that featured the radioactive sewer and crumbling ruins of Old New York? I thought that would make a lovely sci-fi twist to the rivers set. New/old ruins, and pipes spilling glowing green goo.

Just a thought.
