We need your feedback. Please read this post and then vote for your choice. Thanks.

We have decided that instead of doing a bunch of general accessory pieces for the first Sci-Fi accessory set, that we should pick a theme for the set and make the pieces all fit that theme. This will allow us to make a better set of related items.

The four choices you have to vote on are:

1)Command Center
2)Engineering
3)Sickbay
4)Crew Quarters

For instance, the Command Center might have a large Captain's Chair, smaller chairs, computer workstations, view screens, etc. We want your help to pick the first one of these sets to produce. Once we have figured that out, we will ask for your opinion on what pieces should be in that set.

Thank you.

This is a great idea -- I remember talking to a few people about how one big challenge with Sci-Fi, as opposed to fantasy, is that it is harder to do "generic" pieces that can be used in a variety of ways. Things kinda have to be very specific.

I voted for "command center" because I'd love to see some consoles, some tactical maps, some viewports, and a host of similiar items that make a great objective and great HQ. Everything else revolves around that, and it's the heart of a setup. Can't wait to see what gets done....

OK... Now I Have Been "Begging" For A long time For You Folks to Do this Stuff in "Theme" Packs... So Kudos!

I Had To Vote Engineering because Miscellaneous Machineary would Be Useful in many Scenarios... BUT I Would Buy all of these!

So The Next Question is: In the Past You Folks have Pretty Much Nixed the Idea of Future Miniatures, HOWEVER, it seems to me that Theme packs are the Perfect Opportunity to do Limited Release Miniatures Specific to the Theme Pack... Example: Engineering Could Have an Engineer... Sick-Bay could Have a Medic OR a Med-bot, Etc... And of Course Once You Folks Get around to the Tavern/Inn an Inn Keeper...<Chuckle>...

Any chance of this Happening?

I think it's a neat idea, but I'd rather not see it, all things considered. In a perfect world, maybe. But....

1) It would take up space in an asst.
2) It would cost money for DF to do.
3) I'd rather see that space used for terrain.
4) I'd rather see that money spent on terrain.

because

5) Figs, at the end of the day, are available from other companies. I really dig my DF figs, but I wouldn't say they are the best on the market. Sorry, DF! To be totally honest, the DF minis simply aren't radically superior to minis by other companies. DF terrain, on the other hand, is uniquely fantastic.

So it's like asking for a hamburger when you go to the best seafood restaurant in the country. I don't want to have a slot taken up by a figure, and I don't want DF spending their limited resources on getting a figure made. I'd much rather have an extra door, or corner, or console, or chair than a figure.

Reaper makes excellent pub denizens, as pics posted here have shown. Tons of great SF figures exist, as well.

Well, at this point I'm just babbling. But I'd vote no for any more DF figs.

HEY!! Why wasn't there an all of the above... :x I'd be happy with any of these but I voted the Engineering. What would be a pipe dream and for many folks here I am sure would be to put all four into one of your Room and Passage sets. They could all easily fit and that would be awsome for keeping it all together. Of coase one set could come out way sooner so one it is.....

What I want before I vote is the question answered, "What does admin define each room as containing?"
That would completely determine my vote!
The small "such as" admin gave was too limited to give enough info as to my vote.

I am leaning towards the following order based off of what little admin gave us as far as info:

Engineering
Quarters
Sickbay
Command

Command is last because how many captain's chairs does one really need?
The rest of what admin said in the command would be really useful, but that captain chair really reduces the utility of the set.
Furthermore, I almost never play on a starship.
I think the sets should be focused towards ground-based encounters and facilities.

The Quarters set has the potential for being a huge set since mess, living, recreation and personal hygiene fixtures would have to be a part of that.
Would we get both officers and enlisted of both?
There is a reason why "country" is used as a describer in explaining the differences between the two.

As far as very important rooms not on admin's list that should be, let me give just two of several missing rooms:
*Armory
*Repair Bay
Of the "missing", these two have the most utility.
These also can be on starships as well as ground bases.

Quite honestly, I do not "want" those four; SF MM NEEDS ALL FOUR PLUS MORE!!!

I agree with L; sorry MLV.
There are some really good figure companies out there that already feed most SF fig needs.
Now, I would almost be on MLV's side of the argument if DF could get the license to do a decent series of 25mm BattleTech figures for BattleTroops.
It is only "almost" because I do not think it would be financially healthy for DF to really do a good figure line for us; just the R&D costs could "swamp the boat".
Have to stick with folks that already do figures.
I would like someone to finally do a decent series of 25mm BattleTech figures though; Ral Partha never even got close to even 5% of what was needed for this game.
That is why BT Universe: BattleTroops faded and became OOP.

5% I'm amazed. They had a HUGE line of that stuff. Or was it FASA? I guess you have seen the plastic ones right? Oh here I go off topic again. Ehmmm, yeah, I think Engenering because It seems there are other things for Command and maybe that is lacking. Besides I always liked that department.....

Now To Be Fair, I Did say Limited Edition Minis in the Theme Packs, NOT That I want DF to Start Mass Producing Minis... I Liked their Minis in the Past, and there really are No Utilitarian Pre-paints out there... (Mechanics, Medics, Bar Tenders Etc)... I Would love to See that...

I Like Both Ideas of The Armoury as well as the Mechanics/Repair Bay...

They had a huge line of 1/285 scale BattleTech minis, mostly 'mech though; they were lacking a good number of the vehicles.
Iron Wind has now remedied that.

Where they were lacking was in the 25mm scale of the BattleTroops wargame and the MechWarrior RPG.
They ended up cranking out only 40 figures for MechWarrior and two 28-man platoons for BattleTech.

As far as back to the thread topic, I just hope that DF has a real SF gamer make the final decision of what goes in the SF MM furnishing sets.

After much thought on this matter I finally voted.

I have to say i actually want them made in oddly the order they are listed in the Poll. I too would like them all, and hope eventually they do make them, but for my desires thats what i want to see and the order...
