Now To Be Fair, I Did say Limited Edition Minis in the Theme Packs, NOT That I want DF to Start Mass Producing Minis... I Liked their Minis in the Past, and there really are No Utilitarian Pre-paints out there... (Mechanics, Medics, Bar Tenders Etc)... I Would love to See that...

I am not saying that it is not a cool idea; I am just saying that DF is not the company for it.
It has way too few resources to be branching out like that right now.
Maybe in ten years or so, but not now.

I know Ground Zero Games in the UK has some of the minis you are speaking of in their Street Level series: www.gtns.co.uk/store1/commerce.cgi?product=SL&exact_match=on&cart_id=4043493.11466.
But again we have that "little" S&H problem.

I Like Both Ideas of The Armoury as well as the Mechanics/Repair Bay...

Your welcome.
I just hope we get a good number at all.
These SF furnishing sets will be the saving grace for SF MM.
Too many gamers I have spoken to will not even get into the SF MM until DF makes the commitment to furnishings.
I am betting a good number will not start getting into it until at least the third set is out.

I think the best way to make these gamers to stand up and take notice would be to release two sets every quarter for two years.
That would give us eight a year.
Jeff wrote that he was looking at half that rate.
Well, I think a faster rate than that would attract more gamers, but of course, we have that funky little problem of low financial resources.
Oh well, we may just have to settle on four each year.

I just had the thought that it might be quite good for PR and such if we could have an initial release of two SF furnishing sets and then one a quarter like Jeff wrote.
Maybe that way we can please the Gro-Pos and the Vac-Heads with the first release.

Any way it is done, I just hope we somehow pick the right ones to attract the max attention.

Hey RF thanks for the link there. I have been toying with some ideas for some modern characters for a Talisman Game and these game me a plethora. :? The link also had something on their download page I've been looking for for quite some time. Full Thrust rules, I'd like some rules that are a bit more " Fleet Friendly " than Star Fleet Battles. Anyway I hope that this poll does not say there is NO interest in a Sick Bay or Crew Quarters but that this is not what people want first. I wish there were a few more votes not just 10.....

I definitely want all 6 (counting RabidFox's additions)... roghly in the following order (although the actual contents of a set might bump it up/down):

Engineering (hopefully several generic computer consoles, 'warp coils', and tubes)

Armory (with crates, missile racks, guns on walls, maybe lockers?)

Command (chairs, consoles (different from engineering), screens)

Crew Quarters (beds, lockers, tables)

Repair Bay (crane, parts pile, tools)

Sickbay (med-couch, stasis chamber)

It's hard to put them in order, but I think that items from engineering and armory could be useful in other places on the base/ship. While sickbay and crew quarters are more restrictive (though definitely needed!). All of this of course relies on the sets actually containing the parts that I expect though (which might be horribly off)

I could easily see combining the repair bay with engineering, and the armory with my brig suggestion, so that might simplify things.

I voted for command... I think it would be most useful for starship and planetary settings.

I think a command chair would look cool...but does ANYONE have a miniature of a guy sitting? Maybe a command chair would be better served by a command station that characters can stand at... Same purpose, and then your captain does not have to stand in his chair...

This plus the round walls.... I am looking forward to making a bridge!

Actually yeah, i do have a few Star Wars minis that are in the sitting position. A few Sandtroopers, Tuskens, and i think one other, they were made to go on a few of the Action Fleet things the Dewback, and Bantha. As well has cutting a Naboo soldier out of the Flash speeder... but yeah out of a 300 different ones, and over a thousand individual minis i have 6 or so, yeah i know what you mean.. ;)

But even though they may not be able to Sit in the chair it is still handy to have around..

Rabid Fox,

The Ground Zero Stuff Looks interesting... It Does not appear to be Prepainted However, Which was Kinda' the Point...

Which Ties into the Discussion about Having A "Special" Miniature or Two in these Sets, (Possibly a Sitting AND a Standing Version of the Commander)?

Regardless if I were to have my Druthers, it would be Kewl if the Furniture Appearing in these Sets Could Also Be Purchased Individually... For those Who Need More Wall Lockers in their Set Up than Bunks, Or So that Extra "Bridge" Consoles and Chairs Could be Purchsed without Having a Half Dozen Command Chairs...

Making the Doors for the New Fantasy Set Available Seperately was a Great Decision For Instance...

Another Set that would be Great (Though it would be a Lower Priority), Would be some sort of Mess Hall, or Maybe a Combination Mess Hall and Rec Room... Long Tables, Benches, Food Replicators, Kitchen Appliences that Sort of thing... Maybe some sort of Gaming Devices/Tables...

Also in the Same Low Priority Level Would be some sort of Cargo Hold? Stacks of "Futureistic" Crates, Drums and Barrels... Pallets of Boxes... Walls with Cargo Neted Miscellany... Walls with Large Cargo Doors on them... Floors with Warning Stripes Around a Lift/Elevator Platform...

I'm sure that the List Could Go On and On...

I'm going with Engineering (though I'd love to see them all at some point if it's possible.)

It would be really cool if each of these sets had some exclusive wall/floor pieces that were specific to the setting. For instance, the Command Center could have a viewscreen and a free-standing turbolift that could be positioned anywhere in a setup. That way, the sets would be more than just a collection of accessories. They'd be complete environments like the Ogre's Den in the Fantasy line, but with more flexibility.

YC,

I Would definately like to see a Combination of Accessories and Set Specific Stuff... Which is Kind of what it sounds like they are Doing... After all it would be Nice to have Computer Consoles that could be Placed in a Dungeon Setting, Caverns or Whatever... Same with things like Your Proposed Turbo-lift... Which Would be Great to Place in the DoE for instance for those Diablo/Doom -eque Shooters...

I suggested a piece like this in the "what should be next for Den of Evil" thread, but I think it would work for sci fi as well.

I'd like to see a wall piece with a clear plastic window, and a slot in the top that you can drop a picture into. Users could cut pictures out of magazines, or print out custom graphics depending on what they needed.

Drop in a picture of stars and planets - it's the main view port on the bridge.

Drop in a graphic of knobs and controls - it's the control wall in engineering.

Drop in some x-rays or a CAT scan image - it's the sickbay display.

Drop in a star map - it's the navigation readout.

Leave the window empty - it's a window. (Great for shooting out with your pulse rifle before dive-rolling through it into the next room and killing a few aliens.)

It's a way of having an easily customizable piece that can become whatever is needed for a setup.

Transit, that is an idea. I wonder if you could take a picture and paste it to a thick piece of cardboard then cut it to the shape of the porthole and put it in there. It would be a small view port or control panel but I can't wait to try that now.....
