I can't recall where the cardstock conversation took place, but let me just add one thing to it: I highly recommend the WorldWorksGames sci-fi expansion "Retrofit."

I'll post some pics later, but I picked this up yesterday just so I could get the props. The expansion comes with enough to make a small setup, but what REALLY excited me was the use of transparencies. These films cost a lot more than regular paper, so it will be pricey for some people, but I had leftovers from my attempt to build the Maiden of the High Seas, and I already used them to make my own force field door (seen in some of the pics I've posted)

So I printed out what I needed to make some other cool stuff, and I'm REALLY happy with it. In particular, I just LOVE the little "bacta chamber" and battle table they made. These are just fantastic, and they REALLY help make the SF setups sing. Watch for pics later.

The set is only $10, and it is possible to use without transparencies if you want. The props themselves are so great that even if you don't want to use a cardstock setup, or don't want to print out tons of stuff and spend days gluing it, the $10 is well spent anyway. I feel like I've gotten my money's worth with just one of each, but of course I can make ten more if I want. Definitely worth getting.

L is right about the First Light - Retrofit by Worldworks being a good set for furnishings.
I have that one plus the First Light set itself.
From the FL set you get:
double wall bunks
five computer and command/control consoles
kitchenette
two types of chairs
low rec table
personnel lockers
space suit locker
two different crates
plus more.
FL-R has:
shelving
stairs
medical console
lavatory (allegedly the second lav in SF gaming history)
another chair
plus more.

Additionally one cannot overlook Ebbles paper minis if one wants cardstock SF furnishings.
Ebbles' best set is the Ambient Elements Collection II.
It has:
Desk
2 tables
2 cabinets
cooking station
enlisted bunks (2 high)
officer bunk
footlocker
waste unit
two more consoles
two more crates
and I believe the first lav in SF figure history including a separate shower stall along with wall mounted toilets, sinks and hand dryers.
The upside is that this set is free; the downside is that in order to get the set, one must buy Ebbles' Derelict II: SF Walls & Floors set ($14).
On the other hand, you are able to just download these to your computer and do not have to pay S&H to get them sent to you and thereby, no foreign S&H problems as far as I know.
Moreover, both Ebbles and RPGNow (where you buy the First Light sets and everything but the Ebbles stuff I talk about here) both offer the PayPal payment option.

There are other sets by Ebbles which provide good furnishings:
Tactical Objectives: Information Systems-
provides consoles and display screens you cannot get elsewhere.
Tactical Objectives: Reactor Level-
provides furnishings that would go well in an engine room or power plant.
Tactical Objectives: Stasis Pod Cluster-
provides furnishings of that type which can be used for a variety of purposes.
Derelict II: Multilevel Extensions 1-
provides catwalks and stairs that one can use in a depot or hangar.
Firebase Maginot-
provides gun turrets and tripods & the guns to put on them.

Also in the Tactical Objectives line there are a brig, an armory and a security station, but those do not contribute to DF SF MM at all though.

As long as we are looking at paper furnishings for DF SF MM, one cannot overlook MicroTactix's Dirt Cheap systems.
The Dirt Cheap Starships has additional furnishings you can use with SF MM; the only problem is that they are all in B&W.
You would have to use colored pencil or something else to color them.
Additionally they have two Mad Lab sets that can provide more furnishings that will work with SF adventures, but also with any Supers or modern adventure you are doing inside DF MM.

There are also oodles of 2D terrain packages out there that can provide stick downs that can be used to enhance DF SF MM on the surface of the floor or walls.
That is why I specifically picked up the Paper Tiles Vol. III: Future Basic Room Set by Alea Publishing Group.
Furthermore, I have picked up other 2D sets just for inspiration for MM set-ups.
One example is Ronin Arts' Future: Installation 1: Asteroid Outpost.
It is set up to be used with SkeletonKey Games' eFuture & eAdventure tiles, but subbing in DF SF & Cavern MM is really easy, except you have to farm out for the furnishings.

I am sure I left some good cardstock sets out, but I am on the road currently and do not have all my resources at hand.

Anyone else out there know of any other good cardstock SF furnishings out there?

From the Newsletter

Sci-Fi Beta Set Coming in February!

While exact details are still sketchy, we are proud to announce that the long-awaited Sci-Fi Beta set will finally be here in February of 2006.
[Edit]
The exact composition of the set is still in flux, but included pieces will be one or more of: a Curved Passage Piece, a Curved Corner Piece, a Curved Floor Piece, a semi-transparent forcefield door insert, a Straight Wall (with porthole), a Computer Panel, and some cool extras like tables, chairs and other furnishings.

Well i guess i can wait till Febuary...

Just glad they listened...
