Is anyone playing any other game with the Sci-Fi MM?
I am playing FASA's BattleTroops (the 25mm BattleTech game) and GZG's StarGruntII game.
Mighty Zug mentioned 40K and Space Hulk, but is anyone playing anything else?
I am sure some of you folks must be.
Tell us what you are playing.

I was thinking about getting a game of Starship Troopers in, but I wouldn't be the one in charge -- a friend of mine picked it up. I have no idea how easy it would be to do with DF, but I've been meaning to mention it to him.

I would imagine the problem would be to make the areas big enough for the bugs to fit in, they prolly would fit down a hallway one at a time but thats not very fair is it

I use Ainsty products for my Sci-Fi games.

While the Df sci-fi pieces are as well-contructed as all DF products are, they look way too "Buck Rogers" to me...they just don't seem credible as sci-fi bits ith their shiny silver walls and floors. Maybe if I was playing a Flash Gordon game or somethng they would make sense for me...but for the gritty, realistic sci-fi I enjoy...not so much.

We have a guy who bought it and we playe tested it abit. Not liking it myself actually, but there's also that game by IMEX, not sure what it's called, it seems like it'd work out with the Sci-Fi stuff.

Personally i'll be using my sets for Star Wars, 40k, Kill Teams and the like.

That game is called Robogear.
The figs look okay, but I have not yet tried it.
How do you fit some of those mechs like the Tyrannosaur in the MasterMaze?

I have heard a little about Kill Teams.
How does it play?

Kill Teams is like a skirmish style of 40k that uses a much smaller unit list than the full game version.

Actually we've talked about incorporating the DF sets to our 40k games by way of having them represent the insides of buildings and such, so the fight continues outside while you can also take it inside.

Well... Per My Own Suggestion/Question of a Few Months Back, I Have Used Some Sci-Fi (Particularly Individual Corridor Sections), As Bunkers For Mech Warrior... Also the Room Set Ups Work ok for Hangers/Bases/Objective Points... (And the Caverns Make VERY Serviceable Caves)...

Sorry. I forgot to include that in my list.
MLV, might you have some picks of how that has been working out?
It would a re-freshing change from all of the other stuff.

I don't have the new Starship Troopers game but assuming (econ joke):

That I did
That other people wanted to play it
That the rules were good
That I actually had time to prep, prepare, and paint the minis
That the Fleet was able to locate a bug staging world
That my MI ship/unit was tasked to the campaign

I'd use the caverns and cave looking fantasy DF to play searching for the bugs underground.

I don't have any DF Fantasy stuff but the caves look like they would work. Is it possible to make WIDE caves? From the novel there were definitely bug highways but there were also lots of small caves (hallways).

The trick would be in planning (from the bug players perspective) how to add pieces on as the battle progressed. The bug player should have the right to add pieces and routes and to expand the map.

From the novel the MI didn't just encounter the bugs by walking around a corner ala Space Hulk but the bugs would burrow and patch into the tunnel the MI were already in from above/below/all around 'em.

From that perspective when playing Space Hulk mabye the 'Nids player should have the right to add the portals that come with Alpha various places.

When the 'Nid player does this you just construct a seperate tunnel to scale off to the side. Kind of representing the whole Aliens in the room kind of thing...
