So this guy walks into a bar and he's got this Sci-Fi terrain...

I'm geeked to finally get a chance to get the stuff out of the boxes and set it up this weekend and actually play with the stuff.

Not that I've been pulling the pieces out and fondling them and making space lazer noises, I wouldn't do that, no, no way, that would be weird, and would make me some kind of weirdo Star Wars junkie that never grew up.

Aaahhhh!!!!!!!

I'm past thirty and still trying to play Star Wars!

Okay. I've worked through the grief, I'm past denial. Acceptance.

Cool.

So, who is using their terrain for other games than SW Minis, SW RPG, Space Hulk, Mechwarrior?

Good idea for a Poll. I don't own any of the Sci-Fi Dwarven Forge and I only play fantasy so I'm not voting. But I am curious to see how others are using this and will watch the results.

I Like the List Compiled... I Had to Vote Other than 15-30MM... Only Because it was the Only "Generic" Slot...

I Use ALL of my DF for Various Sci-Fi... (Mostly My Own Post-Apocalyptic Game)...

I played my first SW skirmish with a friend of mine. I am hoping to set up the DW stuff to play on that but I was blown away by how great the maps are for the SW. I mean D$D only had some tiles to put over bland dungeonish map. These are great. They even have this senerio pack with great maps too. I have not seen it but heard of it....Nice. Some of the maps even fit together nicely. I'm hoping to play on the stuff next weekend....

The maps for SWM are quite excellent, and they offer two real advantages, besides being cheap and easy:

1. They are SW-specific, with details that are uniquely SW. I would have liked more, but still, there are some nice elements.

2. They are designed for play, and most of the people who like the game seem to agree that they work really well. You don't have to worry about whether or not your map will "work" with these.

Of course, I prefer 3D. I like the DF SF for SW, but I would LOVE it if WOTC put out some accessory packs -- a set with a Death Star "petal" console, a clear computer "map" console (like at Echo Base), a few SW-specific doors, maybe even a moisture vaporator. They could be placed in the DF stuff to make it feel more "Star Warsy."

Almost certainly won't happen, but it would be great...

I've been going through old toys. I posted pics of the Naboo palace that works VERY well -- I think older Action Fleet playsets don't work very well. The Hoth one is pretty terrible, the Yavin one could be decent, the Death Star one is good for display only, kinda like the Naboo one (but the Naboo one is closer to minis scale)

But I think the other two Naboo sets might work -- the big hangar and the little staircase one.

I also think the old Kenner Micro collection sets are pretty close. The Death Star and Bespin are a bit too small (and Bespin is too limited for use in a game) -- but the Hoth one is just about perfect! The ion cannon and the wampa cave probably would only be good for decoration/cover. But the generators and turrets look like they'd be great, and the whole shebang would make a great backdrop for the AT-AT that's on the way....
