GS;

VERY interesting. We have a dollhouse shop here in Baltimore (well, actually in Hereford, about 25 miles north of town) that carries that line; I picked up a couple of the sets they had in 1/4" scale, but they were more like $3.95 or something like that.
What I need to pick up are the stuff I mentioned before, plus the medlab, cryo shop, and locker room gear. That will at least start me on completing the SF line, and I think I have enough for at least a start on Fantasy. I have a tendency to do 'abandoned' dungeons and caverns for Fantasy, but SF is hard to abandon convincingly; even a derelict ship is going to at least have a dead guy in the chair with his chest burst out.

See ya 'round!

I've looked into using dollhouse furniture with my MM setups, but I can't seem to find a good place locally or an online that gives a good sense of scale. Does anyone have any resources for finding properly scaled furniture that they'd like to share?

YC,

Try a Google on 'miniature furniture' and refine it from there.
It can't hurt, and it might help.

Just a thought. Good luck!

The ones above are listed as 1/4 if memory serves, and while the picture bellow is not in DF, it is in a cousin of DF and something that goes in scale pretty well with DF Hirst Arts.

And it is the exact sane stuff, as i bought (except the bed is blue not yellow checked :) which i like better)

I've tried that (or at least something similar) but still couldn't find anything that gave scale. Maybe my Google-fu just needs a little work. Ghenghis, I'll try your idea of looking for 1/4 scale.

EDIT: Misread Ghenghis' post and wrote something highly redundant and obvious. This is now removed for the general good.

Yup jkratzer it is HA, according to the guy who posted it over at the HA pages, (been over there a bit since i bought the Sci-Fi molds), and actually skeletons and dead body parts i have had more use in Sci-Fi than in D&D, since most skeletons in that always seem to get animated... but i had a bunch of GW skeletons that broke over the years, i started using them, piles of them on a base to make nice pile of dead bodies, if you need one with a burst chest, grab the handy Dremel. I even went as far as to put a few on transpernecys lying down so i could drop them onto beds to make it look like they died in their sleep, I am sure a few could get positioned into sitting to plop into one of the Grendel command chairs to look like it died at it's post....

Yukon Cornelius my goolge-fu brought up this page, which is from oakridgehobbies and it is the same stuff as above and lists it as "1/4" Scale Miniature Dollhouse Furniture Sets and Accessories" I went with Dollhouse fruniture over miniature fruniture in my search engines
www.oakridgehobbies.com/o_scale/o_8-9.html

one of the reason i have been looking for 1/4 scale Doll house stuff was becuase of that site and "O Scale Miniatures is 1/4"=1' (1:48)" while 28mm is i think by most standards close to 1:56 (ranging from 1;56-1:59) I save seen more stuff for 1/4 scale or 1:48 you can find a number of sites with that type of stuff in that scale. it is one of the closest sets of furnishings i coud find, adn when i saw that it was $1.55 at my FLGS i bought about 6 sets...
. HO is 1:87, much too small, and other than models i can't find anything in the 1:5Xth range.

To (mis-)quote Will Smith in ID4;

"I have GOT to get me some of these!"

Seriously, they will be perfect for sci-fi setups, as IO has proven, time and again.

"C'mon, IRS! Refund!!"

See ya!

camoudragon yup I have looked at them but they aren't things i am really interested in. While sure some of it looks really Spiffy, and i admit some does look really nice, the cost and the fact i don't war game has made it a no go for me.

While the PHAETON PATTERN DEFENCE PLATFORM is some what interesting, it isn't interesting enough for the $65 bucks it would cost me for the item alone, not to mention shipping to the US. Consdering that $65 is about 73% of the cost of a DF sci-fi set i would rather go with a Beta than order one of those guns (besides i found a very similar gun on a 3.75 inch action figure scaled toy, for a total of $5 that gives me the gun, and a something i can use for a anti-grav skiff for less than a 1/10 of the cost, i could get about 12 for the same price, and if i have glue and paint the stuff together anyway, i'd rather go with a bunch for the same cost... for me the issue is a no brainer).

There are a few things that do look interesting enough to almost buy, but the price on GW stuff is just too much for me for what you get . The XENOS DISSECTION TABLE, COMMS STATION, ARCHIVISTS STATION (each $26) and the XENOS SPECIMEN TANKS ($15). For me what you get isn't worth the price. While some of the stuff looks kind of cool, it's way to GW expensive, DF while expensive isn't That expensive....

GS;

You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT about GW and Forge World. They DO have some excellent-looking stuff, but their pricing - and their 'Holier-than-thou' attitude - is totally outrageous!
I've bought a couple of FW items in the past, but never again. The GW stores here in Baltimore, including the US HQ store in Glen Burnie, all seem to preach the GW/UK theology that if it isn't GW, it's trash, it doesn't work, and it's a rip-off. They bad-mouth other people's products incessantly, and then try to defend their (GW's) pricing as 'it's because of the customs duties, etc.'
I've priced some items (these were both Summer 2000 prices)as comparisons, and here's a real winner:
GW sells the Leman Russ tank, with @150 parts on 3 trees, plus 4 metal parts, at @$39.99, US. It's NOT to scale with anything else except itself, although GW claims it's 1:48 scale.
Revell Germany has a new-mold 1:48 scale Dassault Rafale, with over 250 parts on (I think)5 trees, plus vinyl 'weighted' tires, white-metal gear legs, and PE detail parts, for @$29.99! And, the Revell kit is all-engraved panel lines, little or no flash, and was reviewed in Fine Scale Modeler as an excellent kit.
Now, GW claims that U.S. Customs raises the cost of their Leman Russ tank, because GW is a UK company. That's a royal laugh because Revell Germany is an EU-based company! So both firms pay customs duties.
So, who's lying to it's customers? Betcha it ISN'T Revell - which, by the way, has no business connection with Revell-Monogram, here in the U.S.
There's something rotten in the state of gaming, and it ISN'T anyone who has offices in Carbondale, Illinois.

Please pardon my diatribe, but that's one button that gets pushed quite easily on me.

See ya!
