hey ghenghis. are you hinting at painting daleks? my favorite villian of all time!
*DING* *DING* we have a winner.

While i prefer the Cold, Detached, Logical, Cybermen as Villains to the Excitable run around Exterminating everything that is not a like us, Daleks., i just had to buy some.
One of the reasons the Daleks were always a second for me to the Cybermen, were partly becuase in the early years they had MASSIVE issues with Stairs....

I mean you could get away from them by just running through door and up or down a flight of stairs.... (though in the Eccelston episode Dalek they got rid of that limitaion rather well).

I have been watching some of the Older Dr. Whos Hartnell and Troughten on DVD through Netflix, and i happened to get the Hartnell Daleks series the same day the new Tennet Evolution of the Daleks was running.... So i broke down and ordered some BTD Daleks... I now have a little army ready to be painted...
I just can't decide which of the various color schemes to go with!!!!! I'm debating classic Genesis of the Daleks Tom Baker, cause i also got Davros, but i really like the new bronze and gold from Ecleston on....

I just can't decide.

L et. al.
yup, but also bellow...

I also think it has been mentioned, or hinted at the Jeff is more into the Sci-fi than Stefan.
And Stefan runs wild on his stuff, he just doesn't run wild on the SF... :(

So while (and this is a statment that would get me into a debate with a certain former member) i think Fantasy is a bigger Seller over all than Sci-Fi, even though yes Sci-Fi has lots of games and proponents of it, Sci-Fi is fractured into universes/galaxys etc. Star Trek, Star Gate, Star Wars, Traveller, GW stuff, Alternity, BSG, Dr, Who etc etc, where every differnt setting has a "look" you just don't get that with Fantasy becuase soooooo much is based off of either Tolkien or what he based everything off of. Generic fantasy can be very generic and work for just about any fantasy setting, Sci-Fi after you get out some of the few basic elements it looks like a world or a setting.... We have a great Sci-Fi base, it's on par with Fantasy for the most part, and DoE. There is only so much you can expand in line with out the wicked additons even then they get kind of Marginal in some cases. I don't own any of the traps... Just not a big draw for me.

GS -

You are SO right about a certain former forum member.
As far as supporting the SF line, Jeff is part of the backing, the rest is Tony Griffon. Tony designed the SF line for DF, and continues to do custom stuff for it, but as you said, tjhere are SO DAMN MANY different Sci-Fi 'Universes' that DF could not afford to support all of them ,and if Jeff and Co. try to support ONE or TWO, everyone else will SCREAM BLOODY MURDER!!!
Because You can't Please Everyone, so you, got to please yourself. (with apologies to Rick Nelson)

If Jeff and Stefan can do the GENERIC stuff, we can fill in the blanks - but I DO think a WA set for Sci-Fi IS in order - and may be on the way.

In our current D&D groups (yes groups, 3 different sets that overlap to some degree), there are many Sci-Fi fans, but we all love different settings. There's a guy who loves Star Gate, a BSG nut, me the SW Nut, Star Trek guy, Red Dwarf (which yes dose have an RPG), Serenity/firely, Dr. Who, SST... to name a few off the top of my head that i know of.
We all love the Genere, but... what are we playing D&D, cause we can all get into that, while we all love Sci-Fi i think it would be hard pressed to get a game going in any SF setting, cause we'd loose a lot of people. I want to do a nother SW game with the Saga rules if they are anygood, but i know we'd loose 3 players casue they just aren't interseted in that game.

I don't want SF to die at DF, but i am realistic about what to expect from them... but that said hurry up and give me accesories so i can stop making them myself :)

Oh, and one other thing I should chime in about -- the fact that SF has so many individual "genres" within it.

If, somehow, DF got a license to make Star Wars terrain (unlikely, given the king's ransom in license fees that George charges) -- I would be ALL. OVER. THAT.

Seriously, at this point, I think you could significantly impact the waste disposal problems of most major cities by stamping "STAR WARS" on the garbage and selling it to people like me.

"I already HAVE a Dunkin Donuts wrapper with a cigarette stub wrapped in it stamped with the Empire Strikes Back logo.....but then, I don't know, I suppose it would be cooler to have two...."

I finally took the plunge and bought a set of all five Sci-Fi MM products, and I have to say, "Wow!" The site makes the DF products look fantastic, and it was a wonderment to discover that the actual pieces are way cooler than they look in the photos!

I would love to see more pieces for the Sci-Fi line, even as I prepare to buy more of the current pieces.

Shaman,

Tony Colasante, the artist who CREATED the Sci-Fi line for Stefan and Jeff, also does custom stuff for DF Sci-Fi, and has an eBay store as Tony Griffon. He makes some outRAGEously cool stuff for DF, too!

I suggest you check his eBay Store for goodies. I also remember reading something here on the forum that he was going to be doing some stuff exclusively for DF, as a subcontractor or something. I might be wrong about that, but I could swear I read it here.

Jeff, any confirm/deny on that issue? Am I imagining things, or is my memory better than I usually admit to?

Ok, this is a bit off topic, but I found a good source for some terrain bits for any SciFi/D20-Modern people waiting for some DF sciFi stuff. It is Tamiya (the Japanese model company) World War II accessory sets. They have alot of sets with oil drums and walls, and sand bags, and tank traps ect.... Which are kinda cool for scifi setups, and really cheap. Also, they have some pre-painted stuff too. Including farm animals and such, which would also be usefull for fantasy setups. Just a thought guys. I have been buying those up around the model shops here in Japan close to my house, where most of the "common" model shops have Gundams and WWII stuff only. If I want to go to my LGS, I have to take a 15 min train ride, to get RPG stuff. So, if you go to a hobby store in the US, don't forget to take a look at the WWII stuff. The best match scale-wise is 1/48 or (if ya can't get 1/48) then get 1/35 scale. I think Tamiya is a good source for some terrain that you can just dry brush, and put it on your table.

I picked up some of the "alien wall" pieces - very cool (but prepainted would be cooler still . . .).

Shaman;

Concur, 100%; unfortunately, Tony's comment when I said that to him was something along the lines of 'You want it painted; I hate painting. Guess what that's going to do to your price?'
I shut up, REAL quick, and said thanks for the great sculptures. I noticed his prices have stayed VERY reasonable.
So who am I to argue with genius?
