I got my goodies from Tony! And he really is a great guy -- he threw in that damaged floor piece as a freebie!

So now I have the 4-way intersection converters, the large "bacta tank" piece, and the damaged floor (plus a SF medium mini base!)

I'm really excited to mix all three of my SF goodies -- put the DF intersection in a room, use Tony's floors to blend it in, and then use my HA pieces to cap things off and finish it up. Should be really really neat. And with the corridor spacing, the HA elements may fit even better than in a regular room!

O.K. now you have me curious L...let's see these Sci-Fi pieces...are they something everyone would like in an upcoming Sci-Fi add on set? people were kind of mixed on Tony's "Control panel piece" from our first Sci-Fi sets bu If these pieces are well received perhaps I could contact Tony about buying his molds?

I liked the "control panel", the look wasn't what i disliked, the fact that it was kind of a "one shot" is what i disliked. but then not sure if i was one of the people who were miked on it.

It just felt kind of alone, with very little else in a set up to go with it, one of the reasons i have been buying all of Tony's stuff. Now that you mention it was by him, at actually kind of looks like it could go with his other stuff.

I have been buying his stuff to agument my SF desires, and think i have everything, he has put out, well i've ordered everything, i haven't gotten it all yet kind of hoing it's at home tongight seeing as L in the next state has his. (Except the crystals i got the Armorcast ones long back and that is good for me on crystals, well and the DF ones i am set on crystal formations for a while).
While it might be cool to get him to make some stuff, i want New things ;).
I already gots all of Tony's current line.
Maybe if he had some things in the wors that aren't out yet... that might be a cool thing to get, but well i have to admit that as the first set to be released, i'd be a bit er... not sure if annoyed is the right word... but maybe a bit put out if all, or a large chunk was stuff i already had. while having them painted up before i bought them would be nice, and a very good thing. If it is the same items and the color scheme are way off... i night have to reapint mine from before. ;) I want more stuff, not everything i have. As long as a decent percent is new i'd be fine thought. If you know what i mean. I at the current time am more interested in expanding my terrain options than getting too many of the same things again. i want variety.

I'll put some pics in the Cool Photos section. I can't speak for everyone, but I do know that these are popular with me!

The "bacta" tank is gonna be big with SW fans who liked it in Empire. Also, WWG does a very similar thing in their paper sets, and Bruce Hirst has a very similar concept (though he hasn't done a mold for it) on his Sci-Fi pages. So right there, that's three major SF areas (SW fans, WWG fans, HA fans) who have access to this kinda thing. So if DF did something like it, or bought Tony's molds... seems like a reasonable thing to do.

The converters, well, you already made converters for the diagonal walls, so they could be incorporated. I can see leaving dungeon and cavernous passages alone, but the SF passages already have so many neat things on them, it'd be cool to have floor pieces to place right up against the outside wall of a passage. That's what these floors do.

I'm sure I'll post pics of my painted bits in a DF environment as soon as I get them painted -- between the HA stuff I got from GS and these pieces from Tony, I'm experiencing a real SF rennaissance! And it will most likely be a short-lived one, too, since something tells me I've got about two weeks before I suddenly crave DoE and MBS displays....

I would very much want to see DF put out the corridor conversion pieces. I'm not a painter otherwise I would have bought them from him on eBay. I don't like the freestanding passages that much the way they are. I mostly like to build spaceships and buildings -- I don't imagine my spaceships having corridors with empty space around them. Corridors and passages that are integrated inside the walls of the larger structure -- now that would be awesome! I only have 1 Sci-Fi passages set. If DF had floor conversion pieces that allowed the outside of the passages to be walls of rooms I would buy a bunch and almost certainly go back and get more passage sets.

Also I like the control panel pieces -- but I agree with GS that they're too lonely in a set up. Pillars and control panels, pillars and control panels. We need that accessory set ASAP!

If you want my advice (and I know you didn't ask so feel free to ignore it) my dream is to recreate the Death Star SW Minis map from Rebel Storm using DF. Give me all the pieces necessary to make that map in 3D and I'll be in SW heaven. Here's what you need (IMO): freestanding curved walls (like in CRW), freestanding straight walls, boxes, crates, security chairs and security tables (thinking here of Sci Fi equivalent to the MBS bar), sick bay beds, narrow doors (for detention cells), computer access pillars, maintenance bay tables with tools and droid parts, narrow (one inch) floors to represent catwalks over all those SW pits, various narrow (1/2" deep) accessories to put up against the walls but don't take up a whole square like weapons locker, computer terminal, sick bay monitor (thinking here of equivalents to the hopefully forthcoming MBS bookshelf unit).

Anyway, that's my 2 cents -- so bring 'em on and I'll buy them!

Like GS says: more Sci Fi please!

In Post #17 of this thread Epic minis contest. There are a number you can see. The Engineering Station is in the can be made out in the first two ok. Lower right in 1st picture, lower left in 2nd.
The DF 4-way sci-fi passage conversion you can see in 1st, 3rd, 4th.
The Containment Units/Bacta Tanks are in the Med lab, as well as his consules. (I want more of those ;) )

Stefan;

ANY of Tony's SF molds would be good ones, but ESPECIALLY the passage converters and the custom floors.
His 'bacta' tanks are good speciality pieces; personally, I would leave them with him UNLESS a big enough market opens up for them that you could make a decent profit with them. Same goes for the Command Consoles, Transporter Pads, and the Engineering Stations. What you COULD do there is group those three into an accessory/furniture package, and then put together another furniture set of bunks, lockers, and hi-tech tables.

Just my 2 cents worth, big guy!

Ah we now know what that little sneak peak was. A variant floor tile.

I'm NOT sure guys, but I got an order from Tony yesterday and haven't had a chance to open it for individual inspection yet. However, it included a 2x2 floor tile, and it MIGHT have been a sample of that new one.

Hmmm...

Oooh, I'm jealous. I like that new one. Though, to be honest (with myself!) I have to admit I'm glad I got the damaged one as a promo. The damaged floor is the kinda piece you need only one, but the new floor seems like I'd want at least 9 to get the most out of it. I full on 3x3 room in that style would be cool, or enough to make a long walkway out of it. But just one? It would be fun, but not particularly useful.

I'll have to see if he's gonna get more....

I can understand about not wanting the same stuff you already have...so perhaps it's not a good idea to try to use his pieces...wouldn't save us any money if we have to buy them anyway, and we are fine with Tony just selling his stuff and showing his pieces on our web site. He is the originator of the Sci-Fi "look" we went with after all, and so I feel he has a sort of artistic leeway to "add" to his creation.
Some of his ideas are pretty kool though, and perhaps it can stimulate something similar from us. Yes, the "filler" pieces look like something that most people want so perhaps Jeff will consider adding something like it to the upcoming Set...
