Otherworld!!

Be nice; this isn't the alt.rec.hobbies.gamesworkshop newsgroup!
On THIS forum, we respect and accept other's opinions, whether we agree or not!
On THIS forum, we remember that free speech is not indicative of moral degeneration.
On THIS forum, even I get to mouth off, and ANYONE who is a regular on here will tell you that I am one of the biggest, baddest, most corporate-bigoted @$$e$ to ever haunt a forum - but I still get respect (as long as I hold my 'bad words' down to less than one per week!).

I don't necessarily agree with EVERYTHING the RabidFox* says; after all he IS the 'Rabid' Fox. But as you can see, I WILL defend his right to be just as dumb (occcasionally), ornery (constantly), and expository about his opinions as anyone else. BUT, he has to play nice on here, also.

Now, Otherworld, I see that YOU are from England, home of Games Workshop. Could it be that, perhaps, you have some connection with GW? At the very least, a loyal customer? I know the UK has more historical than SF-style indigenous game manufacturing, but there IS other product than GW.

And, having dealt with Forge World staff, both on-line, via e-mail, and via TransAtlantic phone conversation (MY DIME, not theirs!), and gotten the same asinine attitude that RabidFox* is speaking of, I can also attest that there is a 'Not Invented Here' attitude in the GW corporate universe that is pervasive, abusive, and abrasive. I DON'T know WHO generates it, and frankly, I don't care. Maybe - although having dealt with other residents of the UK, I doubt this - the attitude stems from the Brit opinion of "OH, those ruddy Colonials!" or "3 things wrong with Americans; overpaid, oversexed, and Over Here!"; again, I don't care. They may not like me, but they LOVE my money.
So if they want my money, they better accept me as well. Or they can get their money somewhere else.

Otherworld, I apologize if I've offended you; two wrongs don't add up to a right. But you DID start it. Let's finish it now, okay?

See ya!

I'm not asking for anyone to shut up, but I would like a set of virtual earplugs, please. This forum contains a lot of useful, interesting and creative information, but it's sometimes necessary to trawl through a lot of shite to find it. I would find it useful if I could filter out the source of the majority of the [expletive deleted by moderator] which is posted on this forum.

And no, I have nothing to do with GW, and I deplore everything they stand for. Did I say something that made you think otherwise?

There's no ignore function on these boards, unfortunately. However, there is a lock button which I'd prefer not to use. Let's get this thread back on track so that I don't have to.

I have no problem with a discussion about the relative merits and shortcomings of other companies, but if you choose to do so, please limit it to the Gaming Talk forum.

Works for me; my GW rants are hereby gone ot the Gaming Talk forum.
I'll rant on here about the coolness of DF Sci-Fi stuff. That should still leave me with a LOT of stuff to talk about!

Sorry, Jeff; I'll be good.
Mostly.

See ya!

Ignore functions make threads way too disjointed; most times I end up turning it off and just reading through the comments that would have been blocked so as to understand the replies.
Ignore function and utility are just not terms that go together in my experience.

Methinks, someone doth protest too much otherworld.
If you possess such a problem, simply move on.

Jim is right though about the English attitude factor of many.
Not on here, but in real life, it is not just many English folks with scruddy attitudes towards Americans - Continentals have had a bad attitude for decades despite the American dollar they want so badly.

Anyway, the moderator has said to move on so I shall as well.
Read y'all elsewhere!

Is the delivery of a thinly-veiled racist slur your idea of 'moving on'?

And as far as I'm concerned, you can shove your American dollar up your fat, obnoxious arse.

Err... the american dolar is about 80% of an Euro. That means the Euro is more powerful than dollar. I know because that's the reason I buy from your country in ebay... And The English pound is high above both... I know too because I also buy from England.

And Europeans don't have any problem with Americans as far as I know... well, my only problem is that DF is too far and I have to pay the shipping costs... sniff...

Otherworld,

RabidFox*, Admin, and I have all tried to terminate this argument, as gently as possible.
Are you TRYING to perpetuate it?
Grow UP; get a LIFE.
Or, as they say at Red Flag, Red October, and Top Gun, "Knock it off!"

I agree that this needs to stop -- in fact, maybe let's just allow the thread to be locked. But I wouldn't say that RF was working THAT hard to end the argument -- he got in a snarky remark there about an entire continent. How's THAT ending the argument?

There's certainly an argument to be made that there's tension on both sides of the pond, and if some Europeans don't like Americans, there is some anti-Europe sentiment in America too -- enjoy any Freedom Fries lately? Let's just agree that of the BILLIONS of people on the planet, some don't like some others, and it's tough to generalize about the feelings of an entire CONTINENT. And then let's just let this flamewar die before it consumes anyone else.

Hey everyone...

Please hear me...our shared interests in gaming should be bringing us together rather than splitting us apart...of course, let's try to be tolerant, and celebrate the differences between us...how different we are all over the globe... we have a wonderful opportunity on this forum to share our creativity and express our fantastic inner imaginations...let's focus on that, rather than negativity...especially to our friends in the UK, such a great country, without which Dwarven Forge would never have been...

Peace.

And on that note, this thread is now locked.

Jingoistic comments, from either side of the pond, will not be permitted. Nor will personal attacks. Period.
