Narrowing End-cap: Might be a useful set to have cavern end-cap pieces that dramaticly narrow into a kind of crack or fissure (sp?) insread of rounded off cul-de-sac ones. These would suggest that a PC "might" be able to wiggle thru to some other area.

Rock/Rubble Piles: Need these to hinder movement (All the caves I have ever been in were real "messy" and a real pain to move thru.

Flooded Passage: Kinda like the acid (?) pool from the traps set but do the entire piece depicting a passage disappearing down into water.

Primitive Alter: For the cavern set. A bunch of skulls/bones stacked around a wild statue. (Think of those Bear-Guys in 13th Warrior) Those were neat tunnels!!!!

We have a Cavern Expansion in the works for release in 2005. We are looking at adding some water pieces, and perhaps we can use some of these good ideas. Thanks.

You should get into the game design business...

I like the suggested items, but here's a couple more:

1) Cliff drop-offs. Think narrow but long pieces (1x2, 1x4, 1x6 or 2x4, 2x6) with a rising wall on only one side and the base shaped as a drop-off on the other. These would suggest narrow ledges along the sides of big open spaces.

2) Rising/Falling jump paths. Think of small isolated columns rising to various heights, requiring leaps from column to column to cross the space.

3) Rope or Rope-and-plank bridge segments

Hi,

I just used the Cavern Set and the exapsnion in an RPG I ran recently.
My feedback is this: Many of the cavern pieces are too narrow to fit
25mm to 30mm figures through. Perhaps if you re-vamp the set you'd consider making the passages a tad bit wider?

Thanks.

When Master Maze was started 25mm figs were actually to a 25mm scale. The trend within the industry has been to cheat this scale and make bigger minis in order to provide better detail. The bad thing is that many "old-school" minis and terrains now look too small.

We use a lot of 1" bases Minis and they seem to work fine in even the smallest parts of cavernous passages. We do have some minis that seem about 28-30mm scale who are waving weapons that get a little cramped.

If anything maybe it helps to show how cramped the PCs really are.

When my PC finally climb out of an area like that I want them to feel relieved. I use a lot of rocks and stalagtites which make things even more tight. But over-all it's not been a problem.

Maybe DF could make us some 25mm small based minis........
