Resin Quality Going Downhill?? 8 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I just got the following sets:

Log Trap (single)
Ice Caverns
Den of Evil (expansion)

I have several other sets, and they're fine, but I'm noticing the following:

Ice Cavern is SUPERB. Tip Top.
Den Of Evil:
- Slots for inserts in big rooms have a few defects I had to file off to get insert in.
- Slots are V shaped (maybe due to leaning)
- Walls are noticably leaning outward so that tiles don't lay flat against them.
Log Trap:
The log trap doesn't sit in the slot hardly at all and if a mouse farts across the room it blows the log off the holder. I mean, VERY touchy.
- The floor trigger had a broken "peg" that was sitting in the bag and so I had to glue it back on. It doesn't sit flat at all anyhow.

What gives? Is anyone else noticing that the casting on some of the sets are a little worse than older sets?

The spiked log trap is an old piece, not a new one. It was part of the Traps 2 set. DF used to sell individual bits from the sets, they still have some like that one. I think everyone's piece is a bit touchy, I know mine is. Maybe not mouse fart touchy, but touchy enough.

LMAO. Glad we could amuse you :)

Seriously, though, I'm not concerned about the log trap, and I'm not concerned about flatulent mice.

My beef, really, is with the 5 or 7 degree angle that my Den of Evil Expansion walls are at. They're not straight up-and-down, so they don't sit flush with the adjacent pieces if I put them back to back. That's kind of my big concern.

There other beef, albeit smaller, is that one of the slots where you put the inserts (the 4-way door room) has a defect - it's got a little "bubble" in the slot so that you can't close a "door" insert all the way. I filed one off, but I found that there's another. It's low on the slot so it's not going to be easy to file without wrecking it.

In any event, this is the first set I've bought (of many) that I was not 100% thrilled about. I'm not calling DF out or anything, I was just curious if anyone's noticed that the casting quality is not what it once was. I have some old sets and they're perfectly flush up-and-down and there's no casting problems, but this set I just got isn't perfect, which kind of shocked me.

I know I noticed a similar leaning on some walls in my DoE sets, but I think it was only on the 6" corridors or the 6" mural walls, not on any of the smaller wall pieces. It was slight enough that it wasn't a problem for me (especially given how awesome the mural walls are in artistry).

I also have a little bit of trouble getting the doors back in to the intersection and 6" corridor pieces. (Actually IIRC the cooridor peices tend to be easier, since they have a slighlt 'v' to their opening caused by a slight curve of the entire piece. For the intersections, what's always worked for me is simply swapping doors around until I find an arrangement that works. Typically at least one door slots in easily in at least one slot. Not ideal, but for me not a problem.
