[quote="Zorcon"]I noticed that the Traps I & II pieces have the walls outside of the floor tiles (ie they do not take up half a square). Is this going to be the new format as new pieces/sets a made?

Are you speaking about the Corridor Sections in the Trap sets? Corridors have so far been the Only Pieces that Contain Walls AND are 2" accross, that I have seen to date... (Am I understanding your Comment Correctly?)...

Bigger is better.
If bigger was not better, than it wasn't big enough!

Zorcon,

Howdy BTW :) ,

Anyway, the Corridors have always had the Walls on the Outsides of the Squares, (So that they match up to a Two Square edge when connecting to a Room)... So to the Best of My Knowledge there has been no Change in the Format... And I would not expect a Change to the Format of the Room Floor Sections as that would not be Compatable with existing Sets, which with the Exception of the Lack of Bow-ties in the Sci-Fi stuff, seems to be the overall Plan... Personally I Like that for Two Reasons,

1) I would be unlikely to buy new sets of existing gear because DF decided to change their Format just to be able to use newer pieces, so to me anyway, this implies that future sets will be compatable with the Stuff that I already Own...

AND

2) If DF had designed the Walls Initially to have a Full 2 Square coverage between the Walls and the "Inner" edge of the tiles, then there would be unseemly Gaps anytime a Rooms Walls boardered another Room... As it Stands I can Get away with more Complex Rooms because the Walls in a Room can be "Interior" walls by simply building on both sides of the Tile... Thus Nifty "Mazes" can be Built, Also Closets, Cells etc...

So although I Can appreciate the desire to fully utilize a tile, I sort of think of that Half square along the walls as a "Gutter" and build my Rooms Big enough to Hold Miniatures within the room rather than along the walls... Does that make Sense?

If anything, I would like to see Some Wider Corridors, with Conversion Pieces to connect to the Existing Corridor sections...

Happy Gaming!

I see MLV, thanks. All that makes sence. Now that I think about it, the corridor sections from the Traps sets are the first corridor sections I have purchased. Hence why I haddn't noticed the difference between a rooms's wall section and a corridor.

I understood the reasoning behind placing the walls on the "inside", but in practice have discovered I would have prefered to have them the other way. The same disign considerations you say you make now, would work just as well if the walls were on the outside.

Never the less this is an excellent product, and I don't want to sound like I'm knocking it.

Zorcon/Guest?

It did not sound like you were Knocking it at all, just adding your 2 Cents to an ongoing discussion... (Which is Encuraged)!

As to designing Dungeons, since the walls are roughly a half inch, and since the overall square size is roughly 1 Inch, you would have a half inch diference or "Gap" if certain Pieces were placed next to one another. For instance, one of my favorite "Quick" details in a room, is to use a Corner Piece inside of the Room, thus creating an "L" shape that can be against another wall like a Closet, or even to make "Door Ways" in the Middle of a Room... I Can do this because the Right angle Corner has a 2x2 "Footprint" which means that it can be placed anywhere that a 2X2 Floor could be. Whereas, if the Corners were on the "Outside" of the Tile, then the "Footprint" would be 2.5 x 2.5, and could not be placed in the Middle of a Room made up of 2x2 Floors...
