Since Stefan is considering more and more to be making a Sewer Set in PVC/Dwarvenite, I have a few concerns popping up in my mind. Since PVC/Dwarvenite is slightly flexible, won't the resin cast on it break from it or detach? Also, a great advantage of PVC/Dwarvenite is easy transportation since it seems to be very resistant and it can be put in totes. Won't the clear resin be scratched?
Yea, I think it would be better to figure out some cool paint job and coat it with a varnish for the water effects. Unless Stefan can figure out a clear plastic insert of some kind. Personally, I would not want a mixture of resin/dwarvenite. Dwarvenite's selling-point is that you can toss it into a box without breaking anything.

These pictures are fascinating. Since he is hinting at Dwarvenite, that would indicate that Catacombs is in fact possible as well (sans some detail and the lights). Very cool!

I did not think I would want sewers, but these prototypes are looking like great. I can just imagine the finished paitned pieces!

And since he says Kickstarter #3, does that mean we are really that close to Dwarvenite Caverns? I'm really interested in the changes they had to make to pull that off. In someways, it might actually be better/ more flexible if all the pieces are 2x2 anyway...but that would possibly toss out alot of what makes the Caverns looks so good.

Yeah, I wasn't crazy about the idea of this being dwarvenite Kickstarter 3. First, let's just admit, because that means a very long wait!

But second, I'm not crazy about these being done in dwarvenite. I think the primary line should remain resin, and the dwarvenite lines should be subsets of that.

Partly, I have to admit, I'm just worried about Dwarvenite in the long term. Yes, I'm sure it was tested and everyone made sure it held up. I saw the durability video. But...

- Will it warp if heavy pieces are all lumped on top of each other over a long period of time? Will walls take on a V-shape instead of being a nice 90 degree angle? Will it warp in extremely hot temperatures, like being stored in a Florida garage with no A/C? Resin holds up great!

- Will the paint scratch?

- Will it yellow over time?

- Will it become brittle with age?

- Will it handle humidity well?

One of the many things I like about DF is that it is durable AND it lasts. I've had some of my sets for over a decade and they show no obvious signs of aging. I want to have the same security with Dwarvenite, but until time begins to pass, I'm not sure. As someone who owns a fair share of SW figures that have yellowed or grown slimy with age (as the plastic deteriorates) I'm aware that these kinds of compounds don't hold up forever. I know Dwarvenite is more rubber-like, but I don't know a thing about how it holds up to the ravages of time. And I don't want to drop thousands of dollars on a collection with an experiation date.

Law, all the concerns you just aired are very legitimate concerning Dwarvenite. As Stefan says they are more or less like the material found in a rubber mallet, I think it'll be alright.

I currently own a rubber mallet over 30 years old and it hasn't lost it's shape or warped, except for the rips and tears in it from the kids trying to use it to hammer actual nails. LOL!!

But why digress, let's get back to how ridiculously awesome these sewer sets look!! :-)

he,he,he....the way it's configured it is modular with regular dungeon tiles so you can make the sewer go right down the middle of your room if you want...leave the room through a passageway, snake about, have a large pumping station and then enter another room:)

I like that. I hope you keep the design so that it works well with normal sets as well!

I thought that I would bump this and get a last ditch request in before Stefan closes the design on this set. I am ok with or without water either way cool. Removable grates are cool also. however I would also like the Roofs for the sewers also if possible as an addon. And possibly a portal in one fo the roofs for water to flow into the sewers. Just a thought.

By roofs I mean what would be the top of sewers but used as actual floor gaming pieces. Not roofs to put on top of the sewers.

I have never been able to afford regular Dwarven Forge sets. I've always loved them, but couldn't buy them, even when my local store had some discounted.

With the first Dwarvenite kickstarter, I jumped in with both feet! Finally, DF figured out a way to get their awesome products to me at a price point I could manage!

I would definitely buy into a sewer set in Dwarvenite, even if I had to apply the water effects myself. If you make it, I am in! Any idea when this might hit the Kickstarter website?

I will be hoping for resin sets, with water.
Would be ideal for its own kickstarter methinks!

Ideas:

A LARGE central pool piece or (preferably) multiple scummy water pieces so we can make "sewer central" - the danger with this set is that it could so easily become too many tiny rooms and long coridoors. Some flor pieces that could be used to expand the width of tunnels or make rooms.

Wooden ramshackle bridges and walkways to cross the sewers without getting wet.

Some separate plonk down sewer machinery pieces (look at the thomarillion stuff for inspiration) to make machine plant rooms.

Nests in walls and/or plonk down nest pieces for the giant rats/baby crocs or whatever critters live down there.

Torch sconces on some of the wall sections or bulkhead light type pieces (magical rather than electrical of course.

Some narrow sewer coridoor pieces.

Some crumbling sewer wall pieces, with gaps in the walls, ideal for transition into other environments like dungeons.

Doors - metal with rivets (rusting) and wooden with rotting holes.
