Realm of the Ancients 2 Years, 9 Months ago
Originally I was going to pass on RotA but since there isnt much else in
stock and I need to gift myself SOMETHING for christmas I took another look at it. I did really like the rubble piles and stairs but I was never blown away by the set.

I was thinking of picking up one of the fisrt set and two of the second
so I could build at least one large encounter room and have enough stairs
to make something cool if used alone.

What is everyone's general opinion of the set's quality compared to DOE
or the regular sets? How often do you use it?

Quality: top notch. I might even go so far as to say its the best detailed and best painted set out of them all.

How often do I use it: probably least out of all the fantasy environments, but I can say confidently it has been worth every penny....truly a beautiful set!

I think the ROA sets are awesome, and are used more often then DOE sets.
Both sets are a Must IMO. I find myself using the ROA style more for Fancy rooms , tombs, royal chambers, special rooms etc.etc. I use the DOE sets in the same manner , but find that I use them less often. But I must admit the DOE set is so sinsterly beutiful, I try to incorparate the pieces as much as I can. So My conclussion is .......I wish I had more of both.

I have 2 sets each and I like to use them a lot in non dungeon environments. I play mainly Pathfinder Society and I used them multiple times now for the Blackros Museum (lower level) - Voices in the Void). I especially like the doors which I tend to use also in other set-ups.

A recent build was a LARGE manor house - unfortunately it was so large not even 2 sets each was enough - but I did blend it nicely with the DoE.

Is this a must have for a starter - No.

As a collector will you regret not having some sets in a few years when you finally want them? Very likely.
