Yes, I have brought up both fountains and arches in other threads. Sue me.

DF has given us the following items in the following sets:
1. Goblin Arch - Wicked Additions
2. Mermaid Fountain - Wicked Additions 2
3. Demon Arch - DoE Wicked Additions
4. Snake Arch - Wicked Additions 3

I think we need an Arch Set, to include at least items 1 and 4, hopefully item 3, and three new arches. Perhaps one of the new arches might be for RotA, and the other two new arches for Classic dungeon DF.

I would also like to see a Fountain Set, to include a Mermaid Fountain and three or five new fountains. Perhaps one might be for RotA, and one for DoE, and the others for Classic dungeon DF.

If Stefan has ideas for arches and fountains that would go together, DF might instead release some Arch & Fountain sets that combine themed elements.

My reasoning is this: an arch or fountain can not only add some variety to a set-up, it can set the tone for a room. Either can be used as a magical trap or a magical boon, and some can actually be used as monster encounters. Rather than restricting them to the occasional WA set, why not release them in their own set as well?

It also provides a chance to update multiple fantasy lines in one go, instead of a full set for one line here and a full set for another line there. If customers don't want a particular item, they can trade it with another DF customer or put it on eBay.

Rebuttal? Support? Ideas for new arches and fountains?

I'd be up for a small set of fountains and arches (what about a well too).

In my humble opinion what DF needs now is more smaller sets of things to put in the DF rather than more new ranges of floor/wall environments. There is loads of stuff out there but none of it is high quality and pre painted.

I agree with the need for smaller sets to *fill in* the existing sets. PLEASE!

Would love to see some NEW fountains and arches, but I already have 2-3 of all the others. How many golblin arches or mermaid fountains does one man need?

hmm
there are tons of arches and fountains from other companies..
in my opinion it's a waste to use Stefan's skills to produce stuff that already exist.

I've tried that (gettign someone else to paint stuff for you) and beyond the single PC mini it becomes a serious PIA. Acquiring the peices, haggling a price, sending the peices, waiting for painting.....waiting for painting....pieces get mailed back, often not painted to the level of detail you thought you were getting, occasionally broken.

I'd really prefer to purchase the pieces from a reliable company like DF. I'd buy Morgar's stuff if his accesories were painted, but it looks (from what I can glean from the web-site that is only currently minimaly in English)like only the Walls & Floors of the three sets (Dwarven, Royal & Barn) come painted while all the cool filler pieces do not...

@Harneloot- agreed 1000%! I love when I get the opportunity to use "props" like barrels, or tables, chairs etc to get in my players' way. Simply being able to pick up a set of cool fountains, wells, cages, etc pre-painted and ready to go straight out of the box would be perfect for me. On top of the convenience, we would be guaranteed the same vision, quality and customer service we've grown to know and trust from DF.

@Endar- Stefan has called on other artists before (see treasure set & the upcoming Elven forest set). No reason he couldn't farm this out as well.

I'm getting that we'd perhaps rather see all-new arches and fountains.

I'll start the bidding...

FOUNTAINS
Classic - hippocampus
DoE - octopus or squid, black fluid
RotA - green plants with water, or dead plants with dry fountain
MBS - long trough (match the fireplace?)

ARCHES
Classic - angels (one on either side, each with one wing extended to form the arch)
Classic - something to match the new windows
DoE - a wall where the tentacles have pulled the bricks aside
RotA - falcon(s)

Even though I don't mind painting accessories myself, if for example something like the Library from Thomarillion was made by Dwarven Forge I would not mind spending the extra bucks to buy it ready for gaming instead of painting it in oh so many hours.

More Accessories would be a definite WIN!

So true! :)

That would be quite awesome!

I really like the idea of a dry fountain with dead plants in it. I would rather see it for the classic line because I almost never use my ROTA.

I would love to see a set of just addons like pillers, alters, fountains, archways and all. I like making my own stuff but as always I like the convience and quality of DF sets. The fact that they are almost unbreakable is a real plus too. Now if I could just find that winning lottery ticket...

If fountains (and arches too, I suppose) are done a particular way, they needn't be devoted to any particular line at all.

For fountains, just sculpt the base and any statuary. For arches, just sculpt the uprights and a 4" span, and place in a 4" gap.

Without the tel-tale walls and floors, a fountain or arch can be put in any setting. A fountain with a marble basin and a sea lion statue could go in a RotA setting, or MBS. An arch with with big suits of golden armor holding massive swords crossed between them could go in Classic Dungeon, or DoE.

So far, though, all of the arches and fountain we've seen were for a particular set, so that's how I framed the original suggestion.
