The Gladiator Arena will never die!

I think Wereweasel has some great ideas here, but I'm doubtful as to whether we will ever see something like that. Maybe someone with more skill than me will make a custom piece and the three or four of us who would want it could buy them off him.

YC, are you trying to inspire me again?

Darn it, leave me alone for a couple of minutes; I got enough on my plate as it is, trying to perfect the risers, finish my F9F-8 Cougar and put it in the display case, finish the setup for the Quest and write the Quest outline, put Eze-Mate couplers on ALL of Sandy's rolling stock, clean up the workroom so I can rebuild the workbenches with dual paint stands and air plumbing, build the P-38J before Labor Day, get my cash together for GenCon, etc., etc., etc. . . .
(pant, pant) Man, I'm tired already, and all I'm doing is sitting here at work; no wonder I work, it gives me a break from my hobbies!

Alright, I'll see what I can do, especially if Stefan will re-post his pics here. No promises, and DO NOT look for it any time soon.
But I WILL try.

See ya!

There's a shiny new nickel in it for you if you get it done by Tuesday.

Good news! =D

The models (as I mentioned above) are finished and already have a couple layers of mold builder on them. Once they are completed I will post them (as my first pics).

As I need to ensure the molds are strong enough and that multiple castings will be required from them this project will take a bit of time to complete. I'm hoping to have them finished (and then posted) sometime in July.

Although I am very pleased with the results to date, it is actually my hope that once these pieces are seen it may help to persuade DF to create a proper, authentic (and vastly superior) version of these "bleacher pieces" for all to have available.

As they are being designed for use in creating an amphitheater, arena or galleries. I will incorporate all three creations in my future posts to show their versatility.

BTW, I have just completed all of the modular "Bleacher" pieces -as intended.

As promised, I will post pics of these as soon as I can arrange to have digital pics taken of them -(as I do not yet have a digicam myself).

In my set there are actually 20 pieces as I cast the bleachers and floor pieces in two parts to allow the (lower) stairs to be placed either together or separately. I'm sure if they were done professionally they could be cast together -(as 10 pieces), perhaps having built-in stairs or a ramp.

Just wanted to let you know it hadn't been forgotten. ;)

Wereweasel--I can't wait to see the pics! On a related note to building an arena, I wound up with two very large pieces of white styrofoam from a recent household purchase. The sections are each PERFECTLY suited to making an arena. I'm going to snap some pics this weekend and post them. Maybe I could get some ideas from folks here on how to approach the project. I'd wind up selling it off since I already have a resin arena from Steve Barber models.

I don't think the "Gladiator" Arena is completely dead yet...

The one I did basically for the Paizo demo was done in pieces that were too big to cast successfully in Resin....however, I have been toying around with some smaller more modular designs for a revised "Arena" which would actually be even finer and more useful then that original "whale" I did previously. It can be made small or very large depending on how many pieces one wanted to invest in. It can be made into different shapes, and might serve more uses even than just an Arena...

Well, Ive probably said too much...but...just wanted to let the Arena fans out there know that I haven't given up on it yet...

I also think we can do it for a reasonable price for the smallest incarnation of this "arena" but I won't quote an estimate now until a prototype is finished...perhaps in a year or two...we have other projects coming out before that...

Go Stefan, go Stefan, go Stefan!

I'd love to see the arena. I was watching a bit of Spartacus the other day, and it really makes you yearn for a good gladiator match for D&D.
