Ok, so I have a ton of bow ties to fill up. I tried using hobby putty but that turned out to be extremely expensive for the brown stuff. The cheaper stuff worked OK but was harder to work with.

So I see an infomercial for Mighty Putty. I get a gift card for Christmas and while walking through Target I see Mighty Putty on the shelf so I buy some.

Wow, this stuff works great for filling in bow ties cheaply. It is easy to work with, but does have a bad odor so use it in a well ventilated area.

My bowtie project is back on!

Thanks for the info. My wife saw this on tv and suggested it for me as a possible cheap alternative, but I dismissed it. I'll have a slice of humble pie and try it out now.

Is it strong like my hero Billy Mays says? I've been thinking about getting some for an emergency repair kit of sorts.

Thanks for the tip! Also What color does it dry? Is it clear? Do you know if it will hold paint?

It dries white and is very durable... I tried to take off some excess and my thumbnail couldn't get it off.

It is nice to work with (other than the odor and the epoxy base which may mean you need to wear gloves if you have sensitive skin... I didn't have though but I did wash up well due to the epoxy base)

Make sure you cut small amounts though. I was only able to fill, texture and detail 16 bow ties at a time before the putty started to set.

Yah, I thought it was goofy on TV but at the cheap price it beats hobby stuff. I also have some Crayola sculpty stuff that was going to be my bowtie filler but I might sculpt up something out of it now...

I haven't tried to paint it yet, but it should hold it if I do a little brush on primer. I'll post up a few pics.

Well I got some about a month ago and am glad I did. One day we were going to Sam's " a warehouse store " and decided to drop by the old RV in storage and get a few things out of it that we did not after the last trip. I instantly smelled gas. It was coming from a leaky gas tank that was fixed 2 time before " and is not in the shop a third time but like last time won't cost anything in addition as they did not get it right " . WELL I tied the stuff and it failed miserably but figured it was just too much pressure as there was about 30 gallons in the tank. I got some wax paper from inside the RV and a small block of wood used to prop up the hydraulic jack in case of flats. Since MP gives you so much I kneaded another batch up and put it in a pancake shape then put the wax paper between it and the wood block then placed the Jack under and cranked it up with a little pressure. THE LEAK STOPPED...
It was late so just needed to stop the leak as a try and siphoning failed. Now when I released the jack the following day to take it to the shop it still oozed but was able to get it there. I have to buy more as it was usefull.
