Another thought I had for a future Fantasy set is a quarter-circle pedestal, the same height as a standard pedestal, and two sides (the radii) the same length, but with a quarter-circle footprint.

This would allow us to put a rounded pedestal in the corner of a room or passage, or a half-circle against a wall, or a circular raised section (2"x2") in the middle of a room. We would be able to give raised sections (made with standard pedestals) rounded corners and/or ends, and we would be able to make interesting landings between lower and upper stairs pieces.

There is a drawback to this piece, and that is the fact that the shape isn't conducive to putting a miniature on it without risking the miniature falling off. The simplest solution is to rule that there is no movement on a QC pedestal. The complicated solution is to include a clear plastic piece that fits against the QC pedestal to finish out the square, perhaps one clear finishing piece for every two QC pedestals.

This is a great idea! I would use LOTS of these throughout my dungeons!

I like the idea but can see it being problematic in "real life". Given the casting realities of resin (slight warping) I don't see how these would ever line up properly when used together. Or even on a warped base tile, for that matter. They would tend to lean and gap away from the walls or each other.

But, like I said, I really like the idea. Maybe multiple bases and caps for various assembly situations to allow them to "sit" better when joined together. Seems pretty cumbersome, though.

I don't think they'd warp significantly more than regular pedestals, or half-wall pieces. Something between 1/4 and 1/3 of the material is being omitted to turn a square (overhead view) into a pie wedge, so it would still be a very sturdy piece and not terribly prone to warping.

AT the risk of being castigated here, I could suggest the old standby solution:

"kratzerize" a pedestal or two, and get one half-circle and two quarter-circle pedestals for each pedestal you cut up!
Of course, you run the risk of further supporting DF, without Stefan & Jeff having to go back to the China shop and order specialized molds that will COST MORE, that DF won't really be able to JUSTIFY CHARGING MORE for, and therefore will NEVER RECOUP THEIR INVESTMENT, and probably result in a NET LOSS that they REALYY CAN'T AFFORD.
So, really, isn't it just better to cut up a couple of round pedestals or columns? If you REALLY MUST HAVE them?
I mean, that's what I'D do.
But then, I'M a KNOWN DF BUTCHER.
That's why they call me the Mad Yank.
Among other things.
