I don't know if any of you have ever read The California Voodoo Game by Larry Niven and Steven Barnes, but this strikes me as the PERFECT place to put that game. I won't say anything else about the game here, because it would ruin (get it?) the novel - but trust me, YOU WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME in here!!
Some of the miniatures will be a bit difficult to arrange, but they'll be worth it.

I want to play as The Griffin!

Aw, man, it's been years since I read that series, but I love those books!

For more Larry Niven fun, remember The Magic Goes Away with the Warlock (and his wheel)? And after all, what good is a glass dagger?

:D

I think I've found the perfect lines to provide me with ROTA inhabitants. Yes, I like the idea of using skeletons and liches -- I've been painting up some new GW skeletons for months now in preparation for that. I also like the idea of yuan-ti and various other kinds of snakemen and lizardmen. Those seem really right at home here.

But the stuff that has me most excited is the Crocodile Games stuff -- Wargods of Aegyptus and Wargods of Olympus. There are some amazingly cool Spartans in the latter that feel PERFECT for ROTA, and some great Egyptian stuff in the former. Somehow, while ROTA works for Egyptian-, Greco-Roman-, or Aztec-inspired fantasy creations really well, it feels more Greek than anything else to me. All these civilizations had a sungod and sun images as central themes, but the specific design of the ROTA sunface looks very Greek to me. I'm psyched to populate this place with Spartans.

Crazy as this sounds, I REALLY want to put an SG-1 team in there! JUST to see who they run into - and even as the GM, I don't KNOW who that's going to be!

Yowza!

Are those like Congo apes, or Tarzan and the Jewels of Opar apes?

What about extra-planar critters? There could be magical fixtures in separate locations that, when activated, make one plane or another intersect with ours, and some monsters show up to be dispatched. If multiple fixtures are activated, then additional planes intersect. If all of the fixtures are activated at once, then a truly bizarre dimension intersects and something monstrous is released. If the fixtures start to activate themselves, so much the better.

Nope, Apes wearing Roman armor. I have an huge army of 'em all painted up.

Here's a link to those apes: 100k.blackorc.com/roster.php?id=3

100kingdoms was a good line back in its day. However, those apes are not posable so they get a little dreary when you drop 50 or 75 on the table. Also they are on small 1" bases and need to be fixed up to keep from toppling over... however those wide doors in ROTA are perfect for large apes in roman armor.

I go bananas over Roman apes! (and I am a big Jason Wiebe fanboy)
