Hello,

I was reading the requests for doors and having a lot of different ones and what not.

I really like the idea of a double wide door for "grand" entrances.

While playing this last Saturday in a RoleMaster game using my pieces, I came to realize that the doors if they are to the same scale as that is suggested to use. (1 Square is equal to 5 feet) That the narrow doors are close to what a normal door should be in size and the original/double square doors would technically be a 10 foot wide door. That actually seems pretty "grand" to me. :)

Now for aesthetic reasons the original door width, is nice for use with the miniatures that most use with the DF stuff.

What is your thought on this...

Now for maybe a grand door while keeping the same scale could be two narrow doors on a wide door base. I don't know.

Actually, I would very much welcome a door set that had one or two special doors that went with each set. So we'd have a cool MBS door, cool new doors for fantasy, cool ones for the cavern, DoE, etc.

So a unique door that is only available with the Room and Passage set, unique door with the Narrow Passage set, etc?

That actually might make some of the sets that do not sell REALLY well (all DF stuff in my eyes should sell well ;O) ) sell better since there is a unique thing in it so people if they want two or three of that unique door will buy more of those sets. Could work, definitely would be cool as a collector stand point. Making it a "RARE" like in the CCG games that seem to be popular.

What I was talking about those is the scale of the doors. On more reflection on it I think I like the fact the doors are two inches wide (two of the tiles that equal 5 feet) because it goes well with the figures. Which means a "grand" door that is three or four of the 1 inch tiles would be cool. Even though in terms of scale in the DF range it would be 15 to 20 feet wide. Just looks good and gives the players of well a grand entrance. :0

I currently have a bum back and on a pain pill so if my thinking is sort of out there please forgive it. :)

A "grand" door (double door, possibly with finer craftsmanship) also allows us to create rooms with a different theme. It's one thing to tell the players that they are entering a throneroom, or an audience chamber, or a greathall, but it is another to have an entryway that shows them the room they are entering is important simply because the doors make it obvious.

Remember also that this is a fantasy game -- some doors might have to be extra wide to accommodate horses or thrones or whatever else needs to be taken in and out of them, and this being a world with all sorts of crazy @#@$ in it, it's also possible they'd need to be wide to accommodate some of the crazy @#$@#. (of course, this being fantasy, you could presumably magic that new griffon statue out of your throne room if you wanted to, rather than mess around with getting it in the door...)

I would like to see stone and metal doors as well as the current range of wooden ones. Some 'double doors' and a special door like the open mouth of a demon. Also - for Giant lairs and the such - what about a "quadruple" door with a bar. A trapped door would be interesting (not sure what this would look like though) and a magical portal type door would also be cool.

I'm not so sure about the 'special rares' pieces idea, you would have to be pretty mad (or very rich) :) to spend $100+ on a set you weren't going to buy anyway just to collect that one rare piece. Just my opinion anyway.

i must say dropping in special doors in the sets makes sense. It would be the way to go i think.
And for us old collectors DF can even come up with a limited edition doors set that contains all those
doors that are scattered across the new sets.

So everone would be happy, the old collectors and new customers woundn't have any problems, since
they will buy the new sets anyway.

Has anyone noticed the new desing narrow doors in the upcoming set ???
