Now that we've seen the contents of the Cavernous Lake Expansion set, we know that some of the pieces people have requested will be released -- particularly the whirlpool, but also the single-corner lake element, similarly designed lake utility pieces, and even some unrequested pieces like the landing and the stepping stones.

So what ELSE do we want for our water sets?

Do people want the next water set to be primarily design-oriented, like this one is? With building features that allow for an even greater variety of possible layouts?

Or do people want it to be primarily accessory-oriented, so that it won't enable you to make differently designed lakes, but it WILL give you cool details to add to currently existing ones?

I vote for the latter. I'm a fan of cool little details, and besides, the CLE seems to include just about every building element possible for the lake. I can't imagine that there would be need for much more. Can anyone else think of one?

What do we want for cool details, though? I seem to recall people suggesting waterfalls, and I'd still love to see that. It might be tricky, probably expensive, but a wall piece with water running down it would be pretty amazing.

I still want to see something half-submerged in the water -- if not tentacles or a tail then a large skeletal remains, perhaps, or some magical treasure item?

How about a trap? The whirlpool counts as a trap, perhaps, but I mean an unnatural trap -- not sure what it would be, though. Unlike previous traps, it would probably have to be static. That resin water would seem to greatly reduce the kind of engineering you could use in a trap element.

How about a natural, rock, bridge? Something vaguely like a cross between the wooden bridge and the arch elements included in the CRW set -- something to exploit the advantages of building a two-level cavern, with a natural bridge that goes over the river below.

Any other ideas?

Frankly, to be honest, I'm feelin' real satisfied with the DF menu right now. There are a small handful of pieces I'd like to see get made, but for the most part I feel content with what's been made (and is being pre-ordered, of course). It's harder and harder for me to come up with these wish lists!

I am not currently collecting any of the water pieces, but I would like to see sewers using the classic MM (standard dungeon pieces) stuff. The MM line hasn't been tweaked for awhile. I think it has been discussed on the forum before (maybe by Stefan). Having some sewer pieces that are backwards compatible with the MM stuff. All of the water pieces now are only "cavernous", which is cool, but I mostly like and collect the MM stuff. Just my thought. So, my point is to use the resin/water for MM pieces.

Our next project, what I am sculpting right now is not a water project....perhaps we will return to water stuff in the next year or so....I think it's pretty fleshed out for now...

Hmm... Sci-fi? Doors? A dungeon set of some kind?

I have to say, I'd already sorta said that I felt the water set is complete, so I'm glad to hear that other things are taking priority for awhile.

I hope the SF fans get their expansion soon, and I'll probably snag one for myself too. Though personally there are other things I'd like to see even more:

- New dungeon stuff. It really feels like it's been awhile since the dungeon setting has received any attention, though the Fantasy Floor set isn't THAT old. Still, I'd love a neat expansion to the dungeon setting. Doors would be acceptable, though in my heart of hearts I'm secretly hoping for something more diverse than just a door pack...

- More MBS stuff. In some ways, the only things I can think of are more accessory sets done like the Tavern Set -- more dressings for rooms. But I know and trust that you can come up with all SORTS of cool MBS expansions, and I'd love to see what you come up with. Wicked MBS expansion, MBS traps, whatever. It'd be cooool.

- A brand new setting. This is, I suppose, way way WAY in the future, with so much else to do for the currently existing settings. But after talking about things like the "Haven of Goodness" (the counterpoint to the DOE, which could serve as either a good-themed extraplanar environment, or an elven palace, or even an exotic sci-fi locale) I can't help but daydream about the possibilities....

I'm willing to be patient on more water/cavern stuff but I disagree that we are anywhere near fleshed out per se or that we will have full lake flexibility. I've been contemplating possible la=ke setups wityh the new pieces and I still see that we will have some restrictions - such as with narrower lakes (some may be able to be fleshed out with river pieces - so contemplating getting another river set at some point...more wall pieces besides). I'm still interested in some multi-level pieces - with & without waterfalls, perhaps a nice chasm. some partial cave-ins might be nice...but again - multi level and multi-waterfall (with one with a secret under the falls passage a must...I did a design for such a ways back but don't know what I did with it). Anyway - I don't colect the Sci-Fi - but I'll be happy for them to get the next set.

A whole line of MBS interiors - blacksmiths, shop, church, beer hall or what have you would be great and a fitting addition the the MBS rooms...also perhaps some additional large floor pieces (and possibly roofs) to easily make multi-story/complete structures

I'm hoping it's a Cavernous WA Set.

There is just so much potential to really enhance the existing Cavern sets.

I'm still rooting for a cavern (non water set) expansion. Narrow cavernous passages. Ledges and large rock formations. More free standing wall shapes. Perhaps another stalactite (or is it stalagmite?) to break up the current option. Another cavern wall and floor variant would be brill!

Saying all that I, too, would be content for the Sci-Fi boys n' girls to get something next, even though I don't buy Sci Fi.
