I know there was talk about DF door sets recently and I have been looking over the various types of DF doors available and noticed a fair amount of variation in heights and sizes.

That being said, I started to envision what size/format would produce the "best" standard door size for DF use (IMHO, of course).

My preference for a "standard wooden door" would be as follows...

The same size and width of the MBS door pieces in the MBS Expansion set. The only difference would be that the door itself is slightly taller -(being tall enough to displace the wattle section above the door). This way the door would still have a completely (wooden) door frame and thus, could be used in any DF genre as there would be no restricting wall type involved - only a wooden-framed door. Alternately the wider (2") door could be produced as either a double door or a standard door with the side wall areas being of wood, (or iron or stone - depending upon door type) only.

In fact if we had iron (and other door types) designed in a similar way, I could see some use for these within the Sci-Fi and DOE lines as well. This would give these doors a truly universal appeal.

This could really provide a considerable variety of new door/barrier possibilities for the Sci-Fi line without producing a specific Sci-Fi set. I'm also envisioning glyphs and force fields as possibly being the same pieces.

Personally I would buy many sets of these (if ever made) as I actually find the standard doors somewhat wide for my 25mm stuff and the narrow doors are actually a wee bit narrow.

Don't get me wrong, all the existing doors look great and are very well made, but this would be what I consider to be a "perfect" DF (standard) door.

Considering how complex the window boxes/shutters appeared, I am hoping that technically these may be possible.

Any possibility for something like this?

It doesn't hurt to ask.

Steve.

Bumped this idea after recently seeing an example, (picture) of how nice a newer MB Set Door looks when used with MM.

BTW,

I would gladly buy a new style of (replacement doors) as I think the look and construction of the newer MBS ones are really that good -although a slightly taller door portion would be preferred.
