sure : 1"=5ft so if the narrow door is 1 inch wide then its 5ft wide in game terms. I don't really "use" the doors though in the sense I'm not trying to fit my minis through them. They are simply part of the dungone decor and I can't wait to have lots more choices for styles and shapes!

Bring on the Doors & Walls set!!!

I'm in for all-door sets plus individual and in packs of 10.

I have 40+ of the new style and run out regularly.

This thread needs to be tied to the Gendel meets DF by YanSolo thread about doors. I would love to see a door set!

Oh man, it sounds like new doors are going to be for Classic MM.... darn man no love for Sci-Fi... We could use some doors too, all we have are two slide doors and the only real difference is in the slider, a cool force shield or a blast door. I know i want a classic 5 foot style door, or a door that isn't a full 2 inchs wide to fill in odd spaces in a layout (like at the croner of a room made by two wall sections).

What else do a gamer's thoughts turn to on a lazy Sunday morning but doors?

The double doors hinted at for RotA will be very welcome. And the door suggestions in this thread are great.

What I'm wondering is if it is possible to make a doors set that works in both the original FantasyMM line and RotA. That is, to sculpt the frame in such a way that maybe it looks a little plainer than the RotA walls and floors, and a little "smoother" than FMM walls and floors, but doesn't look out of place in either set. To be able to put the doors in both sets doubles their utility, and reduces the number of doors that DF actually "needs" to produce. But what is more important to y'all, that the doors can be used in more than one set or that the doors match a particular set very well?

I'm also wondering if some of the doors need to open. A barred door (wooden door with a big plank holding it closed) doesn't necessarily have to open, especially if there is a ruined/broken door in the same set (just swap one for the other when the barbarian smashes it down). A ruined door need not open either. It would be nice to have a swinging cell door (made of criss-crossing bars), but if two static doors (one open and one closed) are cheaper than two swinging doors, I say go with the static doors -- not only can we switch them out during play, we can also get more of them and have more prison cells.

The rolling round door is a good idea (and has significant historical precedent, especially as a tomb door), but I think that in order to work it would have to be a WA-type special piece, and a double-sized one at that. You need the standard 2" length for the circular doorframe, and then 2" more for the door to roll aside. It would also be nice to have a track in or a guide on the floor that the stone rolls along, with "stops" and/or bumps that keep it in one of three positions (fully open, fully closed, and halfway).

I like the idea of a rune door, but I don't know if I'm imagining the same thing that others are. I'm picturing a frame, possibly with the interior edge carved in waves or to follow the outline of the runes themselves, with an insert mechanically similar to DoE doors (a "wafer" that slides into a slot at the top). However, the insert could be clear colored plastic to indicate a barrier of magical energy (which might be "solid", or harmful, or beneficial, depending on what the GM likes -- if there is more than one rune door in each set (and if they are at all similar to my imaginings), I hope that each rune door has a different color insert.

Thinking back on the versatility vs matching thing, I may have to change my vote to matching, but I actually think most new doors ought to go in the FMM line. For some reason, I've always equated the DoE line with Lawful Evil (despite the obvious breakdown of reality that is occuring there), and a certain lack of variation is entirely proper there. Likewise, I tend to see the RotA line as Lawful Good, and while I see room for a few different doors, I also think of that environment as being extensively pre-planned to adhere to a very strict aesthetic. The FMM line feels more need-based, more functional, more Neutral (perhaps leaning towards Chaotic just a hair) which means that doors and other features are designed with less attention to matching everything around them.

Maybe that's just me. Thoughts?

I would be fine with doors that didn't actually open.
