Just a thought, possibly a mod...

How about a ramp (bottom) that is placed in a Fantasy piece, like a Spiral Stair with a smooth sloped surface instead of stairs? (Which don't have a place to put a miniature anyway, so no lost area.) Or a Curved Passage piece that has a sloping floor instead of a flat floor? Or a Passage Dead End with a steep floor?

Ramps or slides are fairly common in fantasy (period or modern) settings, and give you a spot to put adventurers who fell through a trapdoor or into a pit. It's also a nice way to put the party on a new level that doesn't allow them to turn around and go back up to a safer area -- if the GM says they can't get up the ramp (too slippery, too steep, whatever) then they have to go forward.

Thoughts? Rebuttal? Modding tips?

I like it, but I'd only be REALLY interested if Stefan did something truly creative with it. Just a plain stone ramp would not feel all that amazing to me.

Maybe if the ramp had deployable spikes, that could raise up through small holes... or if it were a big staircase that crumbled apart. . .

And of course there IS the wooden ramp from the traps set, if all else fails...

We could put trapdoor pieces at the bottom of the ramp, and the piece might be made to accomodate the interchangeable "swing weapon" bits in Traps I.

This is a little ambitious, but the sloping floor could have a spot where a couple-few different pieces could be switched out (normal sloped floor, spikes or blades, fire, and so on).

I suppose they could make a staircase that folded up to become a ramp, but I don't like "working" pieces for three reasons -- they are difficult to design and manufacture, they stop working long before the other pieces wear out, and they are hard on miniatures. I'd much rather have a ramp piece that matched a staircase piece (Spiral Ramp that is virtually identical to existing Spiral Stairs, or introduce BOTH a Curved Passage Ramp AND a Curved Passage Stairs) so that one piece could be removed and replaced with its counterpart to indicate that the stairs have become a ramp (or vice versa).
