DF Inventory Tracking (Final) v1.00 Now Available at home.comcast.net/~jkwmisc/DF/DwarvenForgeMain.html

Edit: As of 08:49 EDT on 06/02/2006, I made two last minute modifications to the files (Shared the workbooks and made them Template (.xlt) files). So, for those 2-3 people who viewed this before I made this edit, you might want to re-grab the files.

Edit: As of 09:06, after starting to input my own inventory, I realized that the Main Page did not list the workbook sheets in the actual order they existed. I re-orded the list so that it matched the order in which the workbooks are displayed.

Edit: 10:25: Got back out of bed as the Sort on the Counts sheet was bothering me. Sorted the Count page so that it makes better sense to the end user (had it sorted differently when I was working on the spreadsheet but now another sort is better for the final produt). Hid a few columns on sheets where those columns were no longer very beneficial to the end user. Uploaded v1.02 at 10:43 EDT.

Note: Affecting Sci-Fi, Cavernous Rivers & Walls, & Cavernous Lakes:
I realized that, because I don't own any Sci-Fi/Cavernous Rivers & Walls/Cavernous Lakes stuff (yet) and because DF only sells one pieces set of sc-fi (not to be confused with the four main sets) and no piece sets (again, not to be confused with the main sets) of the Cavernous Rivers & Walls/Cavernous Lakes sets, I didn't go to the trouble of trying to determine the value of the Individual Pieces. As such, persons entering partial set information for these (say you traded half a main set to someone so you now have some Orphaned pieces) will have a $0.00 value calculated for those pieces until such a time that I update it or you manually change the entries on the hidden sheet yourself.

Edit: 11:45: As I was entering my own collection, I noticed that the "Main Sets " had two extra spaces at the end of it (on the Costs sheet). I removed the two spaces in both spreadsheets, incremented it to 1.03 and uploaded them. I know, nitpicking, but that's me. :) Eesh. I should really get some sleep since I've been up since 19:00 yesterday and, today, I need to be up at 15:00 to get ready for my 13+ hour shift. Yummy!

You are most welcome.

I wonder how many people will use it. If memory seres me, before today, I had only seen 2 people interested in it, LoneStarr and Kraldo. You and someone else (who posted under the Gaming section) just posted today thanking me for it. That makes 4. ;) Let's hope a few other souls find it useful.

It's nice to be thanked. Sometimes, that's all it takes to keep people happy.

Awesome little tracking sheet!

I've got something on the order of $1700 worth - but...much of it was bought on discount, at buy-one-get-one-free sales at the FLGS before DF went direct-sales only, and three sets were given me by Dwarven Forge - the original Traps set, a Fantasy Starter and a Fantasy Floor (as the examples of those two were flawed in production).

So the actual number is probably closer to $800-$1000 or so. Well...maybe a bit more, like $1200 or $1300.

weaverjk -

I'll be downloading your spreadsheet today to start work on the MS Access 2000 version database. If anyone will need it in Access97, I can save down to that level, although some functions will be lost.
Keep in mind that I will have to take pics of all the individual pieces to get this thing correct. Fortunately, I HAVE at least ONE of everything except some of the figures - or at least, I think so. If I'm missing anything, I'm sure I can post here and ask for assistance.
If anyone DOES volunteer photos, the best will be max 360x240 jpgs at 100% resolution and no compression. Put them against a chromakey green or a matte off-white, for max contrast. Since I have a Comcast e-mail account, hit my e-mail link here on the forum and let me know what you're shooting, and I can send a direct link back to you for speed.
I can't work on this full-time, what with the Temple of Trek DVD to finish up before mid-June, and everything ELSE I've managed to let the world shovel onto my plate. BUT, I promised a long time ago that I would look into doing this, and it's time for me to stand up and be counted, or else shut up forever.
And {b]ANYONE[/b] who knows me, knows how impossible THAT is!

See ya!

Jim

PS: Went and got it; WOW!
Man, you put a HELLUVA lot of effort into this one! If I can get the database running, with the forms, pics and reports, and all, I will be able to stand tall in the DF Universe.
WHOOF!

I didn't get much feedback while I was putting v1.00 together. I'm looking for that feedback now. :)

After using the spreadsheet to inventory all my items, I kind of wish I had put the Piece Sets and Indididuals on one spreadsheet. It's okay to have the Orphans off on their own. The only Orphans I had were 70 bowties. No sense scrolling through 60+ orphans just for a small handfull of entries.

How about those who are using the spreadsheet? Would you rather see the Piece Sets and Individuals on one page? My guess would be Yes.

While it means re-doing a bit, I think I'll work on that Saturday/Sunday night.

Please let me know what you think on this subject and if you have any other comments/suggestions for while I'm working on it again.

Thanks all.

It didn't take as long as I thought to fix it up. I'm done and I like it better. Now I don't have to think about whether the item I want to record is a Set or an Individual, they are both on the same page. I kept the Orphans separate as it is a much larger list.

The other thing I noticed was a lack of consistency as to how I categorized items. Specifically things such as Doors and the Swivelling Secret Door. I started by putting all doors under Dressings. I then moved the Narrow Door down to the Narrow category. When I go to put things in the spreadsheet, I was forgetting that Doors weren't in the Room category and I'd have to scroll up to the Dressings. I also would probably expect to find the Secret Door either in Room or in Wicked.

I'm up for suggestions on items that could use recategorizing and to what category you think they should belong.
As I'd like to finish the second form sometime this evening, I'll probably go ahead and choose categories on my own, but I would still like to hear from the users of the spreadsheet to see what they think.

Thanks again.

I am not sure, but did any one bring up the old "D" code part?
It was a single Short Passage piece for $4.
I realized it was missing tonight when I was running my inventory and had no place to place my four "D"s.
I hope this helps and is not too late to incorporate into your latest version.
Sorry for the tardiness.

Is that the Dead End Short Passage? If so, I didn't realize it could be sold separately and so I made up a model number based upon the kit it originally came from or something like that. The fake M/N I gave it is MM-010-DESP.
Please confirm if this is what you are talking about. Thanks.
Oh...sorrry, you probably meant exactly what you said, which was "Short Passage." In my searches, I didn't see where this was purchasable as an individual piece so I gave it a fake number based upon the set it came from: MM-010-SP
As such, it is listed on the Orphaned page instead of the Individual page.
