I think what RabidFox* means is the standard short passage (the D-Block, no dead-end or cave-in). It was available as sigle piece some time ago.

LoneStarr -

Can you e-mail me privately? I need to correspond with you and CRasterImage both, to see if you guys think we can tie TS and either my MS Access database, or weaverjk's Excel spreadsheet together for tracking and list-checking. I've already posted to weaverjk's thread on Inquiring Mind, in this section. Maybe we should drag pfworks into this project, since his drawings are part of the TS project.

Hope to hear from you!

LoneStarr is correct.

As I said in my previous post: "Oh...sorrry, you probably meant exactly what you said, which was "Short Passage." In my searches, I didn't see where this was purchasable as an individual piece so I gave it a fake number based upon the set it came from: MM-010-SP"

That sounds like what you and LoneStarr just confirmed. Yes?

Hope that helps. I'll update the M/N and Cost with the information you provided. Thanks!

62 sets and counting. In addition, a boatload of individual pieces or sets of pieces.

Since the MM-010: 15 Short Passages Set is the latest one that contained those D-Blocks in masses, that might be an appropriate code.
Currently the only set containig them seems to be the Fantasy Room & Passage Set (MM-002).

@jkratzer, weaverjk

For the linking idea between Tile System and the Excel Sheet or Access DB you have to contact CRasterImage, since I can not do much there, depsite potential suggestions.

The most important thing is to get a clear idea what we want/need and then checkout how it could be realized with a proper ratio of benefit compared to efforts.

So here are my suggestion for creating tile set xml defintions out of Excel or Access:

The first possibillity would be to let eihter Excel or Access parse the default set xml files that I created. It would then have to parse each tile tag, find the name in the sheet/DB and then replace the 999 value of the maxcount attribute with the appropriate number of tiles. For that purpose the names in the tile set file and the sheet/DB must be of course exactly the same.

A similar alternative approach would be creating template files by replacing the 999 with approriate tokens, e.g. ${FN-CornerWall-MaxCount}, to ease the parsing and replacing in Excel/Access. Instead of using new names in the tokens, which would require them to be in the sheet/DB other ID like fields may be used, e.g. the name again or the DF code.

Both alternatives would of course require some VBA coding in Excel/Access I think.

For the other direction, Tile System maps to Excel/Access, for example for determining further infos on required tiles, the reports Tile System can create could be used. Since they are potentially not so easy to parse, it might be an idea to ask CRasterIMage if he can also add a Create CSV-Report function. It should be easy to derive it from the actual report function.
A CSV (comma or colon separated values) file should be easier to process from Excel/Access or any other software than the formatted human readable report.

LS -

Excel-lent idea! (Pun intended)

If I can get Access to import/export the .csv files from TS, and CRI can get TS to import/export .csv's from Access, then I think we've got a winner (assuming a LOT of work on my part, but hey, "If ya can't take a joke, ya shouldn't have enlisted!").

This is starting to take some serious shape here, guys.

See ya!

No, please put it as the D-code.
That is the way I bought mine at the Armory in Baltimore years ago, and I have been told they still sell them this way to local gamers as I was at the time.

Thank you for the feedback, LoneStarr. Your points are all valid. Having been a computer guy for 25+ years those were my thoughts as well. I had also thought one of the best things to do would be to use "tokens" in the TileSystem software to point to appropriate records in the database. While I'm not as up on Access as JKratzer seems to be, it almost makes me want to work on that portion of the project myself! Well, that and I like to have things done my way (yeah, I can admit it). ;)

weaverjk -

YOU built the spreadsheet; CRI built the TS program; pfworks did the drawings, and LS did the photos.
All I'M doing is the database, which, as an Access db guy from version 1.0 (and I'm working in 2000 now), is old-hat, and pretty easy.
YOU GUYS did the hard stuff, so YOU guys get to have it your way, as much as possible in a database. Just let me know what you want how, and as much as I can, I will conform to your wishes; only Access structure will deviate from that.
You're driving; I'm just keeping the wheels on the axles, here.

See ya!

LOL. I'm just admitting to a fault. If you put the database together, you can have it any way you want. It's your database. :)

The other factor for me is: I like a challenge, especially when it comes to computers. In some ways I want to do the DB just because it's there to do and I should be able to figure out how to make the computer do what I want it to do. However, it's much easier to let someone else who already knows Access to do the DB.

My e-mail address should be on the website where you downloaded the spreadsheet. Feel free to shoot me an e-mail if you have questions or concerns about the spreadsheet and converting it over to a DB. I can give you my # and we can take the db building offline if you want.

Oh my. I just did a "rough" visual inspection (didn't move too many boxes around) of my DF inventory and entered it into your spreadsheet, weaver... I'm afraid to keep this on my hard drive for fear that my wife will find out how much I've spent over the past decade on this stuff... ;-}~ (it was mostly purchased before we were married, sweetheart, I swear!)
