Interesting- I'm at 33 sets and spent over $3,200.

I need to sit down and fill in all of the singles I bought as well as the various mini-sets (i.e. liizardmen, furniture and treasure sets I have). So I am guessing I will top out probably at $3,500. Of course this does not count some stuff I will need to purchase such as one more DoE, 2 Cavernous Passage, whatever the "mystery set" is as well as any more sets due this year that will suck the dollars right out of my wallet! :D

You do not seem to have the price in the spreadsheet for MM016, the T&M Items set.
It was 35.00US$.
At least in '03 it was.

I have a odd variety of Dwarven Forge paperwork in my possession.
I have my original Spiropolous the Minotaur sheets from '97, a catalog Stefan sent me in '99, a product printout from the DF on-line store in '03, the entire Gallery from '04 including some of "L"'s cool layouts (where is Bill Jacobs from Seattle these days - he had some really cool custom made pieces in the pics from the Gallery), and the printouts of all the sample set-ups the old DF WEB page had (I have all of the data files for them too).

I even have the Dwarven Forge member list from when I signed up back in on 26 April 2004 in my first incarnation as the 66th member of this forum back when the forum was only 56 days old.
I signed up only 8 days after Jeff had made Stefan's original account here "Spiropolous the Minotaur".
That was way back when L only had 11 postings under his belt, not the 1034 he has today.
Plus, MyLordVoid only had 67 instead of his 2388 today.
My how things have carried on.
I would have had 1139 today with this posting if my first incarnation had not been derezzed.
Such is life.

Out of curiosity Stefan, why did you not continue with that account?
I miss Spiropolous; he was a good bull.

Oh, the nostalgia.

Most prices just went up a nickle between '00 & '03, but that Treasure & Magic Item Set went up $5.05 while the other two fantasy furnishing sets went down $0.95.
From my experiences, things do not always make great sense in retail is all I can say.

Thank you Blackhawk1. I haven't had time to go got everything down while I was at work tonight, but you did provide me many pieces of information which will save me lots of time figuring out where my now clumped-together pieces came from. One example: The Grain Sack Piles. Now that I have the breakdown, that'll help me fill in the "Completly Broken Down" sheet and the calculations for the Counts sheet.
I appreciate the assistance.

Draft Version 0.004 is ready. I think you'll like the changes.
1) Created Main Page (it may currently be labeld Costs).
2) Main Page provides:
----Links to each of the other pages.
----Lists each of the other pages tallies.
----Tallies the tallies. ;)
3) Each page now has a link back to the main page.
4) On each page, re-located the Total Set Count and Total Value to a friendlier place (hopefully no scrolling required).
5) Re-did the Freezing of the Panes so that not only the top section is frozen but now the Description column is also frozen (in case you scroll far to the right).

home.comcast.net/~jkwmisc/DF/DwarvenForgeMain.html

I suppose I could give you a direct link to the file, eh?: home.comcast.net/~jkwmisc/DF/DFInventoryBlankDraft004.xls

Here are some things I would appreciate you taking the time to read, consider, and respond to:

I could use feedback as to whether or not people using this document like the Piece Sets, Pieces and Piece Sets, or the Completely Broken Down sheets. I see deleting one or two of them.

The Piece Sets only lists sets and not individual pieces.
The Pieces and Piece Sets will probably satisfy most people. (Note that I've stopped working on this page while I work on the CBD page.)
The (Pieces and Piece Sets) Completely Broken Down (CBD) (WIP=work in progress) will satisfy the really detail-oriented folks (like me). When I'm done, this sheet will allow you to say you have the Grain Sacks Set or, say you lost a piece or aquired an additional one in a trade, you can list that you own 1 complete Grain Sack Set and 1 Large Grain Sack (assuming you gained the latter in a trade or something).

Unless users of the spreadsheet scream at me to do otherwise, I will probably be deleting the "Piece Sets" as well as the "Piece and Piece Sets" sheets and retain the CBD sheet.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

I would also appreciate feed back on specific portions of the CBD page.
I've hidden columns B & C. Please highlight columns A & D and Unhide so you can see B & C. I'd like to know if anyone likes the way those two columns work together or if you'd prefer to see the same information (for the most part) as shown in Column A.

In the end I will have one or more hidden sheets that breaks down each set into its component pieces and then adds that on the Counts sheet so that the entries on all the sheets tally up on the Counts sheet so you can see how many corner pieces, Short Passage pieces, etc. that you own.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

What I'm looking for is a quick way to convert this over to a simple text file that the Tilesystem software (Created by CRasterImage on the DF Forums) can import so the software will know how many pieces you have to work with in building a layout. I haven't asked him yet, but it would be nice if we could build in a quick import function to the software for this purpose. As it is now, you'd have to tally up your counts (which this spreadsheet does) and then enter the data line by line into the Tilesystem files.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Another question is whether you'd rather see items lised exactly as they are on the DF web site or if you'd rather seem them like "Stair, Upper and Lower," "Stair, Upper," and "Stair, Lower" so that all of the Stairs are grouped together. Of course that means things like walls would be "Wall, 2" Long" and "Wall, 6" Long."

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you again for your time and contributions. JKW

BH1 - thanks again. Those breakdowns are exactly what I was looking for. I'll incorporate them in the next version.
Once I have the CBD (completely broken down) page the way I want it, I'll work on the Count page. :)

Okay...*I* am not into this, however, does anyone want additional information (I've seen this mentioned on the forums) such as When the First Printing of an item was, etc.? If so, what information would you add?
Personally, I'm more into Using this stuff than noting the printings and all, but some people are more of a Collector than I am.

Ack...one more thing. What I was thinking of doing is, once I have this spreadsheet "finalized," asking LoneStarr if we can name the Tilesystem sets (their pieces) to the same names as those in the spreadsheet. What I'll could do is change the names myself and provide the files back to LS.
I just discovered the Cavern Objects today. Thanks! I'm glad to see the rocks, tubs, and whatnot in the system.
I'd love to see all the accessories (coins, barrels, etc.)! I know...a LOT of work.

This depends about what names you are thinking. For example I did not change the filenames of pfworks drawings because I considered it as time wasting and I am not sure if his integrated product short codes might be useful sometime. For the photos I've chosen a simpler naming schema and that seems also ok for me.
For the internal of course we have some flexibility and I just tried to come as close as possible to the 'official tile names'.
I can change them to the names from your sheets (they seem to be pretty the official ones).
But we have to take into account the following then:
We have to make sure that every name is absolutely unique (and potentially even across the sets, e.g. by adding the line as prefix. I'll have to check that out or ask CRasterImage. Otherwise to simple names like 'Pillar' could become a problem, since it existst in the Fantasy and Sci-Fi line).
Furthermore one has to be very careful with maps he has allready done with the former versions then. Since the map files (.ts) reference the tiles by the tileset filename and the tile name, they will be broken then. Of course it is possible to fix important maps with an text editor (the .ts files are xml too).

I figured it was probably more work that it was worth. I won't worry about it until after I get the spreadsheet finished and then I'll see how much trouble it will be for me to do and hand back to you. Thanks for the input.

I would also like to have the tile names used in the set files for the Tile System as close to the 'official names' as possible. In fact I allready tried to do that as good as possible. If possible I even searched for my individual tile packages to find out the proper names.

Other names could be found on the web page, but there is the problem with so many things being no longer listed there.
Furthermore in some cases even the names there seemed a bit strange to me (or the displayed photos), e.g. there is a 'Twisted cavern conversion' and a 'Twisted Cavernous Passage Conversion' and both of them have the same picture! I think one of them should be the one that converts into a Fantasy passage and the other one should be the one that converts to a cavernous passage (that with some water puddles on the floor). But anyway none of the names would indicate that one tile converts to the Fantasy passages. Maybe I should also post that pontential wrong entry on the web site comments section ...

Neither of those are the piece you seem to be describing. I believe you are thinking of the (Cavern) Corner Conversion Section which has mostly a curved cavern piece but also has an archway to a stone (man-made) passageway.
The Twisted Conversion Section comes with the Cavern set and has a S curve that starts out with the small end going to the left, curving back to the right, and then again to the left to the wider end. This is has a more narrow and sharp curve to it than the Twisted Cavernous Passage Conversion.
The Twisted Cavernous Passage Conversion comes with, you guessed it, the Cavernous Passage set and starts with a small end curijng to the right and back over to the left to the wider end.
Well, those directions may differ based upon who you ask and whether or not they declare a 5 degree turn one direction as changing directions.
In any case, you are correct that the picture of one isn't accurate. I don't have the web page up right now or I'd tell you which one.
