Would like some quick advice. The seller insists he sold in good faith believing all was in the box. He obviously does not have the missing parts and asks me what he can do to make right.

As it is too expensive to post back for refund, and the set is useful (just not as good as I thought I was getting) the only thing I can think of is asking for a partial refund. How to do that fairly. My idea is work out how much a set like this would be worth, compare to original deluxe room set price and ask for that percentage of wht I paid.

So the advice is how much percent refund I should ask for. I have an idea but want to make sure I am being reasonable, so opinions would be appreciated. As a reminder here's what I got:

It only has 4 (not 6) of the walls with torch holders. And only 4 lit torches (No unlit ones)
Also there are only 2 (not 5) regular straight walls

Everything else ment to be in the set is there.
Plus there are an extra 4 (10 instead of 6) corner pieces

So what is this worth as a percentage of a full set?

I had a situation where I purchased an Octagonal Room Set, and it turned out that there were no diagonal walls, they had been replaced with normal walls. However, there were a few extra walls, so I called it even.

It looks like you are short one piece, if my math is correct. That's about $5. I'd ask for a refund of $5.

I would ask for enough money to purchase the missing pieces in order to make the set whole. After all that is what you paid for...

Yes, sounds good in theory, but unfortunately many of the missing items (2 x Deluxe wall, 2X Lit torches, 6 x Unlit torches) are not available except as part of a full set - so I have to estimate what they would cost or what they are worth to me.

one way to do so would be to look at the "invididual pieces" | "room" section of the DF web site. While not everything is in stock, it should help you esitmate "fair" prices.
I certainly agree with Philip's comment about getting what you paid for, a Deluxe Room set.
I also see Pfworks' suggestion of calling it even with $5.00 since that's about the difference in prices, not including the missing torches with and without flames/smoke, which I think I found for sale on a web site somewhere....
It seems hard to believe that anyone could sell a DF set and NOT know what is in it. For heaven's sake, open the freaking box and compare the contents to the picture on the front. Even if the seller is re-selling for someone else, this seller is lazy (not to verify the contents of the box before selling the box) and or ignorant (to trust someone as to the contents of a box).

62 sets and counting. In addition, a boatload of individual pieces or sets of pieces.

Waza -

Get the cost of completing a Deluxe Set, request a refund of that amount from the vendor, and if he shines you on, BLACKBALL HIM!
EBay will post a non-nasty feedback with no problem; they don't want bad sellers any more than you do. BUT, if you don't give him the opportunity to make good, YOU will be the one who gets well-and-truly flamed, and deservedly so. But as I said, if you try to reconcile and he blows you off, then FLAME ON! Just be . . . discreet about it.

Good luck, and good night (to steal a line from a movie).

See ya!
