I am against it, I just have no interest in it. No more than I am the Ogre Lair. I decided against the Den of Evil, they look nice, but would require too much of an investment. I did finally preorder the river set today!

Please oh Please let it be a Sewer, As much as I weould love to have a tavern set, If it was a sewer I would have renege on one of my New Years resolutions to cut back on Sewer dives in my campaigns!
Well, one could easily do sewers with a combination of cavernous river & regular room pieces.

For that matter, use Passage pieces and run a large Dremel down the middle, lengthwise.
I guarantee you, you'll have a sewer drainage ditch, quite shortly.
AND, you'll have some use for all the Passage pieces that SO MANY GUYS here have been kvetching about!!!

See, I TOLD you they were good for something. But NO-O-O-O, you didn't believe ME.

Next time, listen to old Uncle Jim when he tells you something!!! Wehn I'm DM'ing, I'll lead you astray in a heartbeat; but when I'm here preaching, I WILL give you the straight dope.
Or I'll tell you point-blank, I Dunno.

See ya!

Ooohh..... tempting....

Man, if I did that, I'd have to get MORE passages, because even though they are my least favorite pieces, I'm too much of a purist to convert mine and leave myself with no alternatives. "But what if one day I just need regular passages again!?!?"

Still, with some clear resin..... oooooohh....... project for the suummmerrrr........

Of course, I'd have to buy a dremel and get decent at using it... gulp...

Alternative to Dremel:

Drill-press, 1/4" drill bit, straight-edge, two C- clamps.
Set drill-press to desired depth of groove.
Put Passage piece at drill-bit.
clamp straight-edge next to DF piece.
Start drill-press.
Feed DF piece SLOWLY past drill bit.
Keep ONE set of toes crossed, just for luck.
Repeat as necessary until all straight and corner pieces are done.
Do curves LAST, and be very careful when doing them.

Post results here, before GenCon, so I can know whether to attend with big grin, or sell membership, move to Patagonia, and change my name.

Seriously, L, if you do it this way, OR use a round Dremel bit in the drill-press, you should be okay. The idea is to use the drill-press to give a consistent depth to the groove. If you have a router that can drop deep enough, and a steady-enough hand, you can go larger. Just use a half-round or v-groove router bit. I kno Dremel has router bits available, and they have a router base as well, but I've never used them, so I don't know exactly how well it would work.

Good Luck.

See ya!

You know, whenever I hear you guys talk about taking a dremel to a DF piece, my heart hurts. It's not just that I don't have the skill or the time to mod my own pieces, but the thought of cutting into my precious possessions is too much to bear.

And sure, I could make some sewer pieces with Hirst blocks, but that's a lot like work, and work is something I already have plenty of. Jeff and Stefan do what they do so that gamers like me can spend less time building and more time playing! Plus, I'm sure that the sewer set that springs from Stefan's (or another professional sculptor's) head would be an order of magnitude cooler than anything I could come up with on my own.

So, deepest respect to all you DIY folks out there. I'm slowly getting my feet wet in terms of building my own creations, but if my characters are going to get their feet wet, it will have to be in a DF Sewer set. Or a Cavernous River Set. Or a Cavernous Lake set.

Is it the 15th yet? :)

Sounds like a great idea Jim, but I'll wait a while longer in hopes that Stefan/DF will produce it.

That being said, I'll just add a sewer set (or four) to my DF "wish list". =)

I've actually given sewers a lot of thought, and rather than introduce an entire new line (like Ainsty's "Sewers of Whatever") I think a set of specialty tiles would allow us to build a sewer in conjunction with the existing Fantasy line pieces.

As this falls into my whole "Rooms" expansion idea, however, I'll post it as a new thread.

I thought Stephan mentioned that while it wouldn't be sci-fi, it may be something sci-fi buyers would like.

I'm hoping for a sewer (radioactive!) too.

Or an egyptian setting?

A tavern is a great nod to gaming tradition though.

Something else that would be good, but after the sewer and tavern (actually fantasy building) sets would be a mine set.

I folks really want a sewer or mine system right now, they should be looking at Ainsty.
The Sewers of Aldwark & Yakkum Mine
www.ainsty.co.uk/

Dwarven Forge may never due either genre, and the 30mm format of Ainsty's is only slightly bigger than Master Maze.
