Well from what has been said, the 10th An set is one people have wanted for a long time, i think the ice and snow is a some what more recent intrest, so a tavern would have more history and thus more likely, also the tavern is more fantasy than Ice and Snow, also think it allows more options. While i support Sci-Fi over fantasy for the most part, Depedning on how it looks i might end up getting a set (DoE works great for certain atmospheres..., depending on how the tarven, if it is a tavern, walls look it might work good for a wookie, or ewok tree house...) ;)

Hmmm...Tavern set, eh?

If it's so, I'll buy lots.

I still want a sewer set, though. :)

Stefan expressed interest in the ice motif over in the "More Lava" thread, but I also got the impression that it was a new interest, not something he's been working on. Of course, he might have been trying to throw us off... That cunning devil!

I'm very curious what the floor of a tavern set would look like, since one of the biggest obstacles to doing a wooden floor is the requirement that planks line up properly. That means that some wall pieces need floors that run parallel to the baseboard, and some need floors that are perpendicular to the baseboard. Floors would have to be tiled or sawdust-covered or something to get around that problem.

I just hope the set will be long-lived enough for me to be able to save up and buy one before all of them are bought up!

I think all the hints points to Tavern, and that makes me very very happy!!! but, even if it's too late, I cross my fingers for it has squares in the floor... I like to use them strongly for movement...

YES!!! Squares in the floor are, for me, an essential part of DF products!

A couple of potential rival products and all of the cast-your-own stuff never came near DF in my mind/heart/gaming because they don't have squares. My preference for counting out squares as increments of movement -- over using tape measures or rulers -- is VERY strong. In fact, the only thing I don't like about the new water tiles is they don't have any demarkation of distance (although knowing they are 4"x4" makes that NEARLY moot).

Please, please, please keep putting squares on the floors!!

I would gladly buy a tavern set, AND a sewer set AND an ice cavern AND a lava cavern set! Though I wouldn't mind if these offerings were spread out over several months (or a couple of years) to allow me to spread out the expense (especially since, if they are as nice as the river and lake sets, I'll end up getting three+ sets of each!). I had thought that this mystery set might be one and the same with the Den of Evil Wicked Additions. But if its yet another set, I'll be pleasantly surprised. I hope all this stuff does really well financially for the company, so that we can keep getting new sets from Dwarven Forge next year. My next problem is going to be storage. I don't know where I'm going to store all this wonderful stuff. I need a bigger house!

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger, pardner. I'm starting to look for the mythical 'wall stretchers' the guys used to kid me about at the firehouse. I couldn't afford a new, larger house even withOUT tons of DF to pay for!

Hel-l-l-p-p-p!

See ya!

XDDD I'm with you and don't know how much... I've been without DF gaming since September last year because I don't have the space to build even a simple setup if my parents aren't out. I have not even the space to store all the product. (I'm about to move, and the first boxes have entered my new house have been DF ones!! XDDD) And let's don't talk about space for accessing the pieces of DF near the table without getting my back broken...

My new house has no furniture... unless you count Medieval Furniture, and Treasures, and Dungeon accesories!! XDDD

About squares in the wood floor of a potential tavern set... yes, I'm with jackattack, I really hate tape measures, and given the fact I barely play rpg, but "tactical" mini/rpg games, I need to count movement. The Cavern Lakes and Rivers gain a lot in beauty without squares, and I'm starting to figure out some simple device like D&D minis bases, but mounted in a compass (I'm not sure if you name like that this device used to draw circles...). So you can count step by step moving the compass and landing the bases... you know what I mean?

For squares in the wood planks, it would be enough having paralel lines (to delimiting the planks) and transversal half-scratches, or half-marks in the planks, so it wouldn't ruin the look of the pieces...

GS -

Yeah, they're called Parquet Floor; and they are a royal PitA to install! Of course, in our scale, they'd be giant parquet.
It's small pieces of planking, cut equal length, and set in squares. If the planking is 2" wide, then you cut the planks 12" long and lay 6 of them side-by-side and glue them up as a tile. Make LOTS of tiles like that, then glue them down to the subfloor, turning each tile one edge, so you have a tile with the planks running horizontal, then one vertical, then horizontal again, then vertical again, and on, and on, and on. . .
Pretty soon, you get VERY TIRED of parquet floor installation. But, when it's done, it can be very pretty, especially if it's done in a medium oak or teak. Seal it and wax it and enjoy it.
And yes, a parquet floor in a tavern would make it easy to do the movement grid, and it would look pretty spiffy in the model. But Stefan could claim it as combat fatigue after making the master for the molds!

See ya!
