there is a nice advertisement for the new set in the back of the new dragon. they also offer a special deal - if you buy in stock products for 120$ you get the trap set 2 for free.

(last night i had some delicious halflingweed while reading the dungeon and then somehow got stuck on the ad and millions (or more) of ideas poped into my head - how will this look with classic room pieces? what will be in the lake set? will they ever produce something like this for the r&p set? what about a sewer system?...)

I keep thinking that sewers should be relatively easy; take two walls, run a groove down the open floor end, and put them together. Feed into them with standard passages with the groove down the center of the piece, and where you want to put junctions to the main gallery, use a single wall piece and a 2x2 floor tile, with an grooved edge and a groove down the center perpendicular to the grooved edge.
Paint crud, etc., along the walls and floors, then overcoat with clear gloss acrylic. OR, possible use Future floor coat, which WILL wash off a clearcoat if you use an ammonia-based cleaner/stripper.
Plastic modelers (such as International Plastic Modelers Society members) get these and other tips from monthly meetings of their chapters, from Fine Scale Modeler, and from the IPMS/USA Journal, a bimonthly magazine we get as part of our membership dues.
I've recently started thinking I should push IPMS here, as it has been ths source of a LOT of the ideas and shortcuts I've posted here in the last few months. Pick up a copy of FSM at your FLHS and look inside; there WILL be an ad in there for IPMS. Somewhere. Really; I promise it's there.

See ya!

Jim

PS: Resin (which is what DF is made from) DOES qualify as plastic.

good idea. FSM is not available in germany - at least not to my knowledge - but i would love to hear more. i found a lot of good tips and nice pieces that fit to df in similiar magazines, websites or exhibitions.

what if you build the cavernous river pieces in the size and design of the standart small floor pieces?
if you flank them left and right with a wall you have sewers or you can place them in any room to have canals or else?

hope to see ya - as i am still trying to find a way to get my ass to gencon.....

You should be able to get FSM, unless Germany restricts mail-order subscriptions. I have NO idea what it will COST, with mailing, taxes, etc., etc., but as a serious modeler, it would be invaluable to you. Also, there is Military Modeler, AIRModeler, and several Euro-based magazines that could bring you incredibly valuable tips and tricks to help achieve the effects we all love.

And, of course, there's always the Web, with www.finescale.com, www.dwarvenforge.com (oh, that's right, we're there now!) and other gaming and modeling sites. Almost ALL of them have forums these days, so start haunting all of 'em; you never know WHAT you'll find there!

See ya!
