I've been considering taller pieces for a future Cavern Additions type Set...so it seems nobody is against it, I think it would add alot...after all, caverns just seem to need to be BIG! A Huge Pillar type formation, tower even, would be really kool eh?
Agreed...consider this for waterfalls and possible multilevel connector type pieces (built in rough stairs along walls etc)

Great news Stefan - just don't forget to put a few places on the collumn/tower where monsters can hide ;)

OOOO! - built in stairs along a wall - great idea!

I think I remember seeing someone suggest a multi-level-height wall for Caverns; one with boulders tumbled down, and with a crude ramp-type path down the face.
I KNOW that is going to be a very expensive piece, but I for one will pay well over $50 for just THAT piece, say 6"-8" long, standard Cavern wall depth (4"?), and tall enough to have two levels or more (4"-6")? Match that up with a similar waterfall piece, and I'll shell out $100 for the two.
In fact, Stefan, I already have a name for that set: Cavern Gigantic Additions Set. Whaddya think, Stefan, Jeff?

Talk to us, guys. Thanks!

Set...so it seems nobody is against it, I think it would add

Oh dear me, yes!
A giant pillar for caverns would be very welcome, and has some
interesting game uses -- it provides a huge barrier to perception and
ranged weapons (mundane and magical), and it might be used as a
structural element that can be destroyed by a party to bring an entire
cavern (system) down on their enemies. Some 1"r x 2" tall pillars would
also be nice, perhaps packaged with the Huge Pillar.
A natural tower might be a circular (or semicular) ribbon/curtain of
stone/mineral, with natural or carved stairs and/or platforms inside.
I do have a question about the base of such pieces. The obvious thing
to do is to put each one on a standard Cavern floor (probably 4"x4" for
the pillar, larger for the tower. I think that works for the tower, but
I wonder about a different base for the pillar. Instead of having a
square floor base protruding beyond the borders of the bottom of the
pillar, have the bottom of the pillar extend beyond the borders of the
square floor base. This would allow builders to place the pillar in
Open Water without using shore pieces, AND it allows builders to place
the pillar by itself to denote a huge pillar that extends downward into
a chasm (without bits of floor around it). This is less than a
suggestion, it is more of a thought, but I thought I'd let people
ponder its merits (or lack thereof).
Two inch wide columns of enhanced height would also be nice for the
Fantasy Dungeon line, to denote high ceilings in large rooms (the Moria
effect).
(And once again, we prove that idle speculation is -- on occasion --
valuable to the creative and/or business side of DF.)

EDIT -- The Preview function did the funky formatting thing to my post, just as the Edit function has done since auto-linking was introduced. Please address this.

Sounds good to me Stefan. I have been waiting on new Cavern stuff for a couple of years now. More lake and river also.
