Well, it ain't DF, but for those who care -- the new McFarlane dragon figures are showing, I found mine at TRU this morning in Boston. They are not QUITE as perfect as the first series, but they are pretty neat, and once again, highly detailed, well-painted dragons for $10 each is darn-nigh unbeatable. I'll post pics as soon as I can, at least two of these guys looks like they'd fit in with DF. (OF course, IO could make them ALL work, but....)

Oh, great!

Now my wife will want THEM as well as everything else!

Oh well, at least at $10 per, they won't break me any time soon.

See ya!

I have a few of the first series of McFarlane dragons, and they look great. I'm really hoping the D&D minis Icons dragons can come at least close in quality. We shall see...

Wow, this is a new one -- the NEW new McF Dragons are out now -- series THREE! They are only at Spencer Gifts at the moment, some kinda special deal. Only the carded figs, not the boxed set (That great sorcerer dragon on the cavern spire that will look so cool in a DF setup...)

Some of these look fantastic for DF displays, there's a Fire Dragon crouching on a volcanic rock formation that looks like he'd be perfect grabbing a drink from the lava fountain. There's also another funky "swimming" water dragon that looks great with the series 2 water dragon, and a great "nesting" dragon with some eggs. That one has a removable baby dragon, and in general would make a great centerpiece for a "steal the dragon egg" or "take the treasure from its nest" scenario. Good stuff.

These guys are bigger than series 2 dragons, too, back to the size of the first ones that came out. The Fire dragon is just massive.

Wife's out of town right now with our digital camera, but when she's back next week, I'll post some pics of these guys in a large DF cavern. Very cool stuff.

At this point, there are 17 dragons available in this line, with that great box set still to come. This really does blow away any other source for minis dragons, IMHO -- even if you hate the poses, you can't beat the price. I'd rather have a $10 dragon that I think is adequate than have to pay $20-30 or even $50-100 for a better one. I mean, I may get that $80 WOTC Col. Red dragon, but I am glad I don't HAVE to get it just to get a big dragon.

The Fire Reminds me of one of the Metallics, I think the Bronze or the Copper. The Eternal and Beserker look great, will have to pick those up.

As an interesting Side note, I also looked at the Cyber units, due out next month, since these are McFarlane Toys i am sure some of the parts when they fall off could work nice for the Sci-Fi setting. The INFILTRATOR UNIT 001, BRUTE UNIT 001 and BATTLE UNIT 001 have some bits that even if they don't fall off could be cut off to be used.

I know what you mean -- I think it's the copper dragon that has that wing style now. Actually, quite a few dragons do, it's a new WOTC "thing" for some reason. But it looks great....
