Detail question 8 Years, 4 Months ago
Jeff has posted the new set won't be the "Tavern" set, but we seem to be on the right track. I'm wondering what everyone thinks about the detail of the new set. I was talking to some friends and we were wondering if it will be a "generic" set without "too much" detail that can be used in many situations or if it would be very detailed and might only be looked at in certain situations. I hope that made sense.

I see a lot of 3-D builds and if it is too detailed it may not be as condusive to multi layer builds. If it is "tavern like" would a detailed set be used in upper layers of say an Inn or would the detailed pieces be used for the main level where congregating takes place and you would want less detail in the upper levels?

So in essence my question is would people like to see very detailed or more generic pieces initially in a new set?

Talk amongst yourselves.

Drahga,

Well such Questions have been Ongoing, but the Gist "Seems" to Hint at some Sort of Above Ground Interiors, Possibly "Generic" Enough to be Used for a Multitude of Settings...

That Said, if the Past is any Indication, the Basic Set (Whatever the Theme) Will likely be Generally Indicative of the Environment, While Future Support Sets (WA, Traps etc...) Might "Flesh" out the Specifics...

My Personal Opinion is that the more Basic the Stuff is, the more Utilitarian... Then Kewl Add ons Can Really make them come to life...

I'd vote for a kind of compromise.

Themed, location-specific accessories and decor can wait -- tables we already have, but bars (as in "to drink at," rather than "to be imprisoned behind"), stools, beds, etc. can wait.

But I WOULD like something more than just walls and floors done in a particular style. Some things like ornate oak doors with cool windows in them and nice knockers (settle down!) or maybe a "painting" hanging on a wall or two -- things that could be in ANY nice above-ground building.

Actually, probably postpone that last one. Ideally, whatever is in this set could be re-used again and again for larger setups -- specific accessories can come later, so people aren't stuck with more than they want of those. But I'd still like to see decorative items that are maximally useful, like good doors and maybe a fireplace or something like that.

Law,

With this Concept in Mind, I Think that the Larger Room Sets that we have been Talking about with Stefan in Other Posts could really be an Advantage... (That is the Floors and Corners would be One Piece with "Drop In" elements to Change things up a bit...

****Off Topic Alert****

Were you the Lad who Ordered the KSG Shirts?

****Back on Topic****

Oh Yes we would Love Some Nice Knockers... Oh and Doors...<Smirk>... The Beauty of the Drop in Design would be in Just how utilitarian it would be to have Such Kewl Elements as Large Doors, Fireplaces, or Whatever available to change out as needed...
