I loved how the example dungeon on the DF boxes has the hordes of monster converging on the stalwart adventurers, as well as the hectic dungeon illustrations of some seventies D&D illustrations. Here is my tribute.

In the infamous dungeon Blackgut Pits, a trio of fearless thieves...a monkturned rogue, a mysterious masked assassin and a swashbuckling swordmaster ended up with two tribes if the natives hot on their trails....the orc mercenaries soldier of the blackgut pit hobgoblins and the bull gator clan lizardmen of the undercavern rivers and lakes.

Fleeing for their lives with several pouches of choice gems purloined from the outraged humanoids, the rogues take a wrong turn into unexplored territory....the incredibly over inhabited wing of Blackgut Pits, Copper Halls.

Hot on the trail of a band of thieves, a band of enraged orc mercanaries cross paths with a pair of surly ogres and their pet dire boar.
"Oy! We let 'dem adventurers thru, we let them lizardmen thru, we ain't going to bend over for some stinkin' orcs. Mash 'em!"

Also hunting down the rogues are the bull gator lizardmen clan
"Humansss have ssstolen the sssacred ssserpentine sssasphires of sssutek, ssslaughter them. Ssslay the orcs if they interfere, thievesss are our prey."

Ogre "Beside, dey Trolls will take care of 'dem lizardmen!"

As the trolls ambush the tasty scalyfolk, werewolves and their pets corner their prey...

Down the hallway a group of bugbears encounter an enraged owlbear.
Aren't these guys cousins or something?

Seperated from their companions by the wolfpack, lizardmen are suprised to stumble across a manticore.
'Watch out! Theresss a wraith behind usss!"

The manticore is occupied settling it's hash with a juvenile black dragon. they're fighting for that pile of copper pieces. The reason this part of the dungeon is so crowded is the "low rent" aspect.

The trio of treasure seekers has their hands full with a pack of werewolves and their mundane companions

"We're out of healing potions, there's a pack of wolves, wargs and werewolves right behind us, and it's a dead end? Good thing we've got this table...." *rollseyes*

Hey MLV I have some of those Magnetic walls and floors I will try to get pics. I love this set up. I wish DF would do a 4" line but just not right now. Too much going on. I love how they can just be added to the Hirst Arts stuff. I reall want to do a large single room some time. " Kinda like the Ogres Den " so I can just slap it down and add furniture. That would rule!!!! How do you think it would hold up? I mean about 10" by 14" room with fireplace and a few exits? I would have to mount it on something to make it hold together? Or do you think it would be ok with just some felt on the bottom?

I would mount it on foamcore...all my pieces are built such. It provides great support and also makes my pieces the same height as DF.
Myself, I want to make some 12" square sections in the vein of Todd Goss's dungeone of doom pieces at www.orcsdrift.com/

Todd Goss' stuff is AMAZING, isn't it? That was definitely one of the things that got me into HA. The other one that really knocked me out was Bossman's stuff over at Voidgamers.

Anyone interested in these things, check out the Hirst Arts Design Derby section over at www.voidgamers.com. There are some truly inspired, outrageous creations there. Stunning.

WhiteWind,

When The DF sets First Came out there used to be Some General "Sample" Set ups and Hints at how to use these Sets... One of the Suggestions, Which has Come up in Discussion here as well, was to "Glue" the Pieces together to Form Pre-built Rooms... I Have Never Tried it, but Have Always Wanted to...

You know you are right MLV, maybe we could come up with a few combinations and then discuss what would be the best layout. Thanks for that link, the Dungeon of Doom stuff was great. 12" X 12" sounds like he can do quite a bit. I wonder if DF can do some single walls with the recesed window like stuff here in this pic. I could be just a single wall that could be put in with the rest of the walls like MM fountain, Port hole, arrow slits... Do you see how they could just make this a single wall. On the Sci-fi end of it just put a recessed area that could be a console or vid screen.

So This Is Sort of What I was Thinking For the Pre Made Rooms... Glue These Pieces Together, Leaving Gaps that Could be Filled by Either Walls or Floors Depending on the needs of the Dungeon...

Now this Example Uses:

Five 2x2 Walls
Four Standard Corners
and
Three 2x2 Floors

Which Creates a Small-Medium Sized Room Scaled at Roughly 45 Ft Long by 30 ft Long, this Could be Adjusted Around Quite a bit though...

I would leave a gap on all four walls, in case the room was a four way intersection.

BlairGB,

Yes, You are Absolutely Correct, a Four way set of Gaps would Be an Configuration that Would Certainly Leave Many Options Available... I Made the Three way more For Illustrative Purposes than Anything... Also Likely there Would Have to be some Experimentation with how Sturdy these Could be... If I was Doing it With DF I would be Concerned about the Corners, and Might Well Create Variations on a Two Gap Room... IF I Were Casting HA, (Which I Do Not), then I would Likely Create the Room With the Gaps Included and then Cast that as a Separate Mold of the Room...

So this way it still keeps it very versital but still is a good start at making a room on the fly. Humm. I would not worrie too much about how sturdy it would be really. I would certainly include the butterfly adapters but would start by just a few dabbs of super glue and pressing them together, next after drying you can work with it more. I would mix up some epoksy of choice and do the BA. Turn it over after a bit and attack all the gaps with a few Layers of epoxey on the underside. It will stay together fairly well. Take some time though.
