Inspired by all the great set-ups I've seen here, I thought I'd try to add some close ups of my own. Opinions? Tips?

It's not a dungeon. It's an Underground Fortified Defense Installation.

A few more shots - sorry about the size, I'm not very adept at handling pictures on the computer.

the skull on the 2x2 piece is hand made?

you should use photoshop or easier acdsee to make your photos smaller

Tom -

Yes, the 2x2 skull is hand made... I was sure you would notice that quickly. Merci for the advice on Photoshop, but I do not have that. I will have to make do with what I do have.

I think the skull throne is a very old Grendel resin, but I'm not exactly sure - I've had it at least fifteen years, maybe closer to twenty. I really should repaint it - my painting has come a long way in the intervening decade-plus.

....and just to "juice up" my post a little bit, here are a few more pics.

These are actually from a different layout than the others.

So... Is that a topless female executioner I see in the torture chamber, or a fat guy with man-boobs? Can't quite make it out, LOL. Where did you get that figure and the chained-up girl?

These are nice. I now get to see a what the Grendel pieces that I have look like when they're painted! ha..! 90% of mine are unpainted in storage.

I think you're right about the Wizard/Necromancer throne being Grendel. I have that piece and have had it for about the same length of time as you--15 years also.

Did you sculpt the bearskin rug? That's really cool. I got some scraps of leather and cut them out in the shape of skinned animals to use for "area rugs" in my dungeons. I also use the nice tapestry bookmarks like the ones you have pictured here. It's always nice to see somebody else put such detail into their layouts!

Dark saber - Yes, it is a female executioner, but I'm afraid its another of my very old minis, this one with way too many layers of paint. What I wouldn't give to get that figure new... The chained up girl was from the last purchase I made online from Ral Partha before they went away - I've seen it out there on eBay since, but good luck...

Dante - I did in fact sculpt the bearskin rug, out of Sculpey. The scraps of leather idea is a good one...
I really do like adding in the Grendel and other terrain pieces to "spruce up" the DF dungeon - of course, it seems now that all my figure painting time is going into terrain and not monsters or character types.
