Well, there's cardstock, and then there's cardstock. From a fansite, a cardstock Death Star for use with SW minis -- I really dig this.

The set is modular, made up of walls of various lengths and various kinds of "corners" -- you can combine them to make rooms, corridors, whatever. There are viewscreens and consoles -- but no tractor beam yet, and no detention block. Still, it's pretty cool.

Not in any way Dwarven Forge, sorry. But I still thought there might be an overlap of interest here.

Now, to make it a BIT relevant for the forum -- Stephan? Jeff? If you could somehow arrange to get the license to make this stuff? You know, one of the most expensive properties for ANYBODY to acquire? That'd be keen. :)

Just glad they are back on line, the site crashed recently and i was afraid that Uncle George had sent his Goons over to shut the place down.

It is some Really Nice looking Star Wars terrain, it is the same guy who did Orbital, the first Card Stock i ever experimneted with. I like it but haven't done much with it yet been doing some other projects.

Well, I didn't want to make a point of it, but I suppose that was a mistake on my part. It's at www.swminiatures.com. You have to join up to get the stuff, but it's all free.

I didn't want to put the link since it felt too much like advertising, but since the stuff is free...

Plus, it's not really competition for DF. Nobody who really wants solid terrain will rest content with cardstock, and nobody who wants a Death Star will rest content with DF. I personally wanted both. But I don't see anyone passing up on DF because of the cardstock stuff -- especially when "free" really means "except for paper and ink." Right now, putting together a small setup probably costs around $25, which is the same as the Starter SF set.

In any case, I think the SWminiatures cardstock sets are great for SW fans, but there really is nothing to compare to having fully 3-D resin terrain.

I just wanted some Death Star walls. . .

I actually have pics of the two sets mixed together, which I should probably post. That kind of compromise works pretty well, and it fits in better on these forums.

I haven't done anything yet with the new stuff Eric or Eli are making in the Card stock, due to water issues in the glue i have decided i will do all of my card stock in the less humid winter months, so just gearing up now to start doing stuff becuase the days are getting less humid. That said both Orbital and Ebbles stuff looks suprisingly very well next to the DF Scifi. In the early days of my DF buying, before i got lots of Sc-Fi sets i had mixed and matched a lot of the Orbital and DF they look pretty good together, if Eric is keeping his Geometry the same with this new stuff they should go nice together.

I have to admit that I as a raving SW fan, I DO like the very specific look of the Free Cardstock, but as some one who plays the RPG, and all of the various cultures and worlds out there, the classic Death Star look just doesn't cut some of the times, unless you are in an Imperial/Republic base, it won't fit. So for me the DF will always have a place and so will the Various Card Stock options.
It is all good.
And there are enough tricks to make it far stronger than one would suspect that it is a great addation and companion for DF Sci-Fi. I buy and use what i find use full. Both are usefull to me, so resin and paper get my support.
