Sometimes, you just have to take the bull by the horns, and etc etc etc.

I picked up an extra cavernous passage T-intersection, the one with the steps and the big hole. I'm currently adding some tinted resin to make a pool out of it, with a nice tempting pile of treasure at the bottom.

I like it this shallow, but I'm going to add more -- it won't be THAT deep, but it will be more than just a wading pool.

The way I see it, this isn't a devastating obstacle, but it is worth a little trouble. If characters are being chased or chasing, this will slow them down. If they have a lot of equipment, this proves a serious obstacle. Spellcasters with scrolls and other things that need to remain dry are going to have to waste a spell of some kind to get across. Plus, there's always a chance that something is wrong with the water.... or that there's something IN it... who knows where these little recesses in the pool lead to, or what might emerge from them........

I'll post more pics when it's done....

Just a few more shots ... it's really addictive taking pictures of this stuff, and I really like the look of the pool just barely showing through the cracks of the cave....

Great, hey, I am not too familiar with this piece. Can you take a photo at a bit of distance?

Whitewind,

It is a cavernous passageways piece, I believe the three way intersection. L, great job.

Yup, here's a link to the official DF pic of the piece. I finished it last night, more pics later today. I'm extremely happy with how it turned out.

Great, I got a look at one. For some reason I just never saw that there was a potential pool. Nice work. I gotta get one!

It's finished -- one thing I've noticed about using this resin for deep water, the fake "water" has a magnifying effect, it makes the pool look more shallow than it really is. But I am happy with how the pile of treasure looks. I like having an untouched version of this piece, too -- not only does it give more setup options, it also means I can switch between the two (to echo Homer Simpson: tide goes in, tide goes out, tide goes in, tide goes out). Nothing like surprising players with a little switcheroo -- "Oh, I'm sorry -- the way you came in is now blocked up with rancid water that houses who-knows-what in its depths....") ;)

This strikes me as the perfect piece to have a cascading waterfall down those steps into a cavern that can have a small stream that ends in a large pool.

Law,

Very Nice... I Thought Immediately Upon Seeing that Piece that a Poole was likely... However, I have yet to Mod any of the DF stuff (YET!), so it is Good to See Someone Attempt it... Good Use of that Corridor Section, and it is in some ways more Logical Filled with Fluid... Kewl...

Hey L, pardon my ignorance on the process, but could you offer some more details on working with the resin? Where do you purchase it? What is the brand name of the product? Does it come tinted or do you do that yourself? And last but not least, was it necessary to layer it during application for some reason, or did you snap the pictures at intervals just to see how it looked. Would appreciate any info...I've been working on some custom pieces of my own but am working with wood to produce them. Have thought about using the resin for water features but didn't know enough about it.
