I picked up a cheap Lego-rip-off set (on sale for $15 at KB) that has some great ice walls that work well with DF. They make great backdrops for Hoth -- here are some pics I took without setting much up, just to give a taste of what's possible....

Here's the fantasy pics I was talking about....

A shot of the rug from the study in another room, a shot of a cool hallway, a shot of the Ogre's den with a little foyer....

After seeing these decides that if he ever meets L in person will have to hit him, hard. First the Lars Land Speeder and now these.

As Ghengis is now going out to look for the Mega Block set hoping it isn't the Dragon Mountain Set which is $70 and is just the Fire Storm Fortress for only $40, becasue he was just this last weekend looking at the little Bane, Summon and Unleash sets thinking the dragons look interesting as well as the trees, pillars etc and the Hanger 18 fand DNA LAb fom the Alien Agency line looked cool... now seeing these all of the money i was saving for Univeste may be going out the window...

Heh heh heh.
It's the Firestorm Fortress -- but it was only $15 at KB. If you look online, you can probably find it for $20 pretty easily, though of course shipping would have to be added. Still, it's an old set, and people are starting to clearance it out if they can.

I wouldn't have gotten it otherwise, but for $15, there are some ice wall pieces that just cried out to be added to the terrain bucket.

I may post a pic of the assortment later -- this is what is included:

2 oddly-shaped pieces that, together, make the door space at the bottom. Alone, they have half an opening at the bottom.

1 large piece that drapes over them that has a permanent dragon skull on it. Great for fantasy, I suppose, but out of place in SF.

2 smaller icicle pieces

2 large flat wall pieces that have hinges on the edge

So, basically, you get two small ice pieces that can hang from a wall,
and four wall pieces that don't always work well on their own, but give you some flexibility in how you set things up.

It's difficult to describe, I'll try to post a pic later.

Looks Interesting at any Rate... Though for my own Cash The Money Spent on that Could Buy a Couple of Sci-Fi Starters so I Would Probably Go that Route... They are neat looking though, and by all means I'd dig seeing additional Pics...

Ten bucks! Wow! I'd feel bad for paying $15, but the one I spotted was the last one on the shelves, so if I'd waited I might have missed out altogether. Ah well.

It's a pretty sweet set. I was looking at one of the display cases at TRU the other day, some of the upcoming MB dragons look like they might be pretty decent for use with minis.

Although, for that matter, the McFarlane Dragons line that had me so enthused at the beginning of the year has two expansions announced, so there will be a LOT of cheap, well-done dragons in the coming year. (to be fair, there's a good chance the new McF dragons will be terrible, too busy designs with cybernetic parts, asymmetrically sized feet, and who knows what else....)

Mega Bloks...

And coincidentally enough, pics of the Dragons 2 series are now out. I posted a link in the "FAntasy Products" forum below.

I was wrong about one having cybernetic parts -- but one DOES have chicken parts, which may be worse. ;) They did go the route I expected -- wackier, busier dragons with funkier poses and therefore not as satisfying as series 1 -- but the boxed Eternal Clan 2 and the Komodo 2 both look STUNNING.

The link, so you don't have to hunt, is here:
