Hey Looking at this I'm Thinking that Red-Orange Wax Might be an Interesting Option for Lava Flows...

All

This post is more than one and a half years old. There was some interest in a waterfall as an idea for an extension. The following bits were done by myself ahead of the cavernous river set. And yes - they include a waterfall. Original photos got lost during a crash of the boards quite a while ago.

I don't have the pieces any more. I discarded them a few month ago. My concern originally was the wax. As it turned out the real problem was the air drying modeling mass I used. It did shrink a lot. And as I build it on a poices of wood it did crack all over.

Actually - should be easz to revisit with some HA cavern floor pieces. And there are still enough stones ...

Pretty cool set up, though the actual water-flowing-over-rocks part needs some work as it looks like wax not water (though i'm certainly not one to talk, as i can't model nothin!)

Stefan never commneted on this original thread...i wonder if he's thought about waterfalls at all.....

I have to admit I haven't done that much this year. My wife started work full time - and often in the evening you are just tired and lack the motivation ...

Having said all that - to get the motivation going it often are comments like yours that get things started. I should go back and revisit the water fall with all what I learned since I did the first one.

Lets see ...

My HA floor molds should be fine to cover the sites of the water. This should be a lot more sturdy as my attempt with whatever air hardening clay (?) I used. That stuff was just crap - but you learn.

River sections - I wouldn't bother - I have DF for that now.

The water - I might think to try some clear resin with some added colour. Just got an order off yesterday for several colours for my resin. Would be worth a try.

Stones - well - I live close to a shingle beach - 2 minutes walk - and I will have all the choice I want.

I also ordered some Super Skulpey - should be fine to fix the stones

Well - I really should revisit this ...

I will post here once I've done it. At least it's weekend now - a good time to get some bits started.
