Here is my very first piece of self made terrain. After browsing through all the postings I thought I give it a try. The main inspiration was Willypolds river section. All the above is an experiment. Still a lot to improve - but I hope it gives others some ideas as well.

Willypold

The water is candle wax. I had the idea to use wax for the waterfall, as I wanted something to look natural flowing. But I melted too much - so I filled the river as well - saved me the time painting.

It is probably not that long lasting - but I thought for a first try. And it already survived my 4 year old playing with it - prior to the photographs.

Wow! Really nice! I think it looks great, and the use of the wax was a fantastic idea. Looks wonderful for murky cavern water, and it flows well.

I think you may have to use a LOT more to get the waterfall effect, though. It looks neat right now, but not quite real. If you're willing to pretty much cover those rocks, the waterfall should look really great, but you'll lose the sight of those cool rocks.

Pretty nice!!! I like it!!!

I must confess I've thought of use melted wax to make some pools, but this has much more use as I see in your pics... I'll probably try something like this...

That great. I love the big rock with the spill over. Yeah more wax would look ok. Hey, I wouldn't worry too much about it being delicate. It should be easy to repair with one of those long lighters " Starters " that you can buy. you can fire it until it is smooth again over any cracks that may form. Nice nice nice...

As the common wish here was more water - here it is again. I have to admit - when I first did the waterfall I was too afraid to reach the point of no return - where I would regret to have used too much of wax.
As my wife echoed the call for more water I added more and it looks better that way.

Hey that is great. I need to concider wax if I make that big lake I was wanting to. I need to experiment first. Also have much painting to do.
