The Wellspring Inn 4 Months ago
Nestled in the foothills near a great forest is the Wellspring Inn, where road-weary travelers stop by to rest their horses and sample the local ale. It takes its name from the nearby spring, which is said to have magical properties (or so the brewmaster likes to brag...)

Beautiful. So many nice details.

I love the inset fire pit.

Want to walk us through the details and accessories?

Very nice set-up.
Where did you find those trees? I love the bigger bright ones with the more defined leaves.

Thanks for the comments!

Most of the non-DF accessories are from Thomarillion. The sunken firepit is just a D&D dungeon tile with a Hirst Arts campfire on top.

The roads are from jefferson64adrian on ebay (made of rubber).

The trees are from Miniature Building Authority (the more defined ones), and www.tablescape.co.uk (the less detailed hardened foam ones). There are also some Safari trees TOOB pieces mixed in. I prefer non-flocked trees, so my choices have been pretty limited. I picked up a tree set from Custom Kingdoms that looks right up my alley., but I'd love to hear about other plastic/resin trees available if anyone knows of some!

The river and bridge are from Armorcast.

I just received a pile of Scotia Grendel dungeon scenery pieces, and now I've got to find some time to paint them all...

Really nice! I really like how you've integrated all the elements, it looks fantastic with the road and the bridge and the trees just outside. The GT pieces may be the best DF design yet for this kind of thing.

Fantastic rendering of a classic fantasy setting.

Love the layout.... Great Stuff!

Thanks for posting the future shopping list of goodies that bring everything to life....

What always make these layouts like this the most fun is the bit of history in the description.... Good Job

Great setup Himajin!! Once again your use of exterior terrain (rivers, trees, roads) create an interesting and realistic overall setup. Lots of nice details in the Wellspring Inn. I particularly like the use of a D&D dungeon tile to create the fire pit, very creative.

Great looking set ups. All looks good. My personal favorite highlights are the inset fire pit, and the way you combined Dwarven Forge with those roads and trees. Very nice looking combo of trees.

By the way, with your pointers I found your larger trees on the Miniature Building Authority website and the Tablescape website. But I didn't spot the very nice small trees/bushes you have in your set up as well. Where are those from?

Great set-up. Really gives off a fantastic impression of a small inn nestled nicely in the forest! Small safe haven from the wilds right outside its door!

Where is the green gridded floor mat from. That helps the setting tremendously with the color.

Thanks for the kind words, all!

The mat is from Hotz. I got it after seeing one in the pictures posted by Kronos, who has done some truly amazing setups.

The small trees are retouched Safari Trees Toob pieces. I just gave them a dry brush with a lighter green for the most part, as they look a bit plain out of the package.

Here's another recent outdoor setting I put together. You'll see most of the same pieces in this one, although I didn't use any DF tiles.
