So this happened...Torchbearer Mod Base for Minis! 7 Months, 1 Week ago
Hey folks,

It took me a while to finalize my design to where I was truly happy with the finished product - but here it is at long last - this Flickering Torchbearer Mod which works for any 1" based mini! Complete with a pic of my DF Torch Walls =)

With this design I could do lanterns, torches, street lamps, etc. For this one I went with a simple "flame" effect (or light spell - see bottom).

Let me know what you think!

-Fizz

Very cool!!! I'm so impressed by all you guys who create lighting effects. I guess everyone has their creative strengths, but things with wiring is not one of mine :) I also love the idea of street lamps. I've searched for such an item several times, but have never found any in the right scale.

I've been considering running a game where the PC's vision is limited by the radius of an actual light on the gaming table. Generally, I reveal all monsters in a room when the PCs enter, but I think it would be fun for the party to enter a dark room and hear things skittering in the darkness until it's revealed by torch light. The torchbearer would be perfect for that sort of thing, so if you decide to make these for sale please let us know.

Hey Feymous,Thanks for the kind words! I will indeed be selling these units though I have not yet set a price as I just finalized the design today and still have to add up base costs and time required to replicate it. If you would be so kind as to mail me an offer to sfoshmvjc @ gmail I'd be more than happy to work with you on designing a piece =)

Dungeon Crawler Minis has bases like that with clips for a torch. Just some wiring and a light needed. Looks awesome!

Can you please share a link to these bases with included clips? I dont see anything even remotely close to that on their store?

I'd be more than happy to modify pre-existing things but I didnt see anything like that when I searched (thus the custom mod).

Thanks for the feedback =)

Nice work Fizzikx! I love the end result and both effects, light spell and torch. This even brings up possibilities of stone pillars with torches or lanterns on them. :)

Combat Clips were a KS add-on special item, but don't seem to have made it to the retail page yet. Look just past halfway down this page...

There might be some confusion. Those clips state that they are painted, not an actual light source. This nudges Fizzikx back to the forefront of lighted minis :-)

Never said they were, or that he wasn't. Just clarifying Animesensei's mention of a similar product that could be modded for LED.

Fizzikx, those are really cool. It's particularly nice how they could be easily swapped from one mini to the next. Nice work!

Did you use some sort of cotton fluff or fiber to create the flame effect?

Love it, dude! I was just having a conversation with my group the other day about it. Though we use lighting effects, we didn't have a light that fit the dimensions that we were looking for to allow light view distances. If the light area's glow didn't touch the enemy, he wasn't within sight.
