Great job, Feymous. The multiple small details are really what make this setup fantastic (along with the top notch paint job). The overall set up of the tavern is just inspired!

......I don't even know what to write.

Feymous, You have outdone yourself this time and just raised the bar for all future pics submitted of builds. I could spend an hour praising your taste, paint skill, imagination, and collection...but I'll just say this part for now:

I've thought to add scale to Catacombs by stacking FREE STANDING WALLS on top of corners and walls, but never dreamed of doing it to cavern pieces.
GREAT IDEA!

Do you have any open spots in your gaming group? I'm sure all of us would love to be treated to setups such as yours!!

HOLY HANDGRENADES! - That is UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Fey you have outdone yourself (and you have set the bar for that pretty high). That setup is nothing short of magnificent. More movie set than gaming terrain it literally reeks of verisimilitude. I can feel the tension, see the movement and hear the ominous music rise in the background!

You have become one of my favorite posters due to your attention to every single detail. I am awestruck.

I'm out of superlatives

I grovel at your feet,

I am seriously inpressed by the amount of thought and planning that has gone into this set up. The way you have chosen certain figures, whose poses mean an observer can instantly see how they are meant to be interacting. It's like theatre!

Awesome collection too!

Feymous, could you please walk us through your cool accessories and tell us where they are from?

Deer Head:

Tentacles:
(are these conversions from dungeoncrawler?)

Evil temple entrance
(from the number of skulls, I suspect GW)

Sacrificial altar Parts:
(The altar itself, the dais, the gargoyles and candelabras)

Thank you all for the overwhelmingly positive feedback! No doubt I would have started collecting DF even without the forum, but having an enthusiastic community to share with and be inspired by makes the "addiction" immeasurably more enjoyable.

@ Law - I'm flattered by the comparison to IO, but I think I have a way to go before I reach that level. But hey, I've got a lot of collecting yet to come, so maybe one day. Totally agree about the Reaper townsfolk. Funny you should mention the "aggressive pointing" guy since I sought him out after seeing him in your setup.

@ Kitenerd & David Wasilewski - I'm very happy that the theatrical nature of the setup came through. When I was creating and photographing each scene it did feel a bit like I was directing a little movie :)

@ Shadox - QYRTFW, YIPPIE!!!! I'm pretty sure I squealed when I read that ;)Your RTFW rating system is to DF what Zagat or Michelin are to restaurants. You just made my weekend.

@ Fu-man Chu - Yes, with a couple exceptions, I painted all the minis and accessories in this setup. The two skaven with pole arms were part of a painted set of clan rats I purchased and a few were pre-painted WOTC or Dungeon Crawler minis that I only touched up and based. These little guys have been my labor of love for the last year. I appreciate the complement.

Re:Taverns & Caverns 10 Months, 2 Weeks ago
biowizard - I'm happy to share where everything came from. I've come to regard you as a human encyclopedia of all things miniature terrain, so I'm glad to be able to introduce a few items you don't recognize.

* Shed ("porch"), tavern signs, balcony ("oriel"), and windows - all are from Thomarillion and can be found on the Building - Elementspage and the Windows & Doors page. The same windows also come without shudders. Not sure if you can see in the pics I posted, but for each exterior window I used the shudder-less window on the interior wall.

* Bottles and racks - are part of the Fenryll inn accessory set

* Deer head - this started as part of the Fenryll savage animals set I then chopped the heads off the elk and lion and mounted them on small pieces of scrap metal that I cut in the shape of trophy mounts.

* Tentacles - Good eye, these are indeed Dungeon Crawler minis that I repainted and added some Woodland Scenics water effects to the base.

* Temple Entrance - Actually, only the curtains are from GW (I took them off the Vampire Counts Coven Throne). The door is from the Dark Arts Miniatures Tomb Tile set, which I discovered thanks to this post by Arcarius

* Sacrificial Alter - The bronze dais and gargoyles are from the GW Eternity Stair. The alter, victim, and candelabras are the Reaper Altar of Evil set

Everything is held together with UHU tac rather than glue so that I can move and remove accessories as desired.
